seven hills Guitar series Presents Andrew Stroud and Duo NS March 3, 2013 3:00 pm St. Johns Episcopal Church Tallahassee, Florida Andrew Stroud has won accolades at many international competitions including the Columbus State Guitar Symposium, Guitare Lachine Competition (Montreal), Rosario Competition (Columbia, SC), Schadt String Competition (Allentown, PA), the Dr. Luis Sigall Competition (Vina del Mar, Chile), Guitar Foundation of America Competition, and the Christopher Parkening Competition (Malibu, CA). As a soloist, Andrew has enjoyed performing in a wide array of venues. Among them are the Festival Mediterreano della Chitarra in Italy, featured solo performances in West Palm Beach’s Gala Concert and a performance at the Veteran World Fencing Champi- onships Gala. As a Chamber Musician, he has performed in diverse roles ranging from orchestral music to opera. He has been featured on local and national broadcasts on television and NPR. In 2009, Andrew made his South American debut, giving master classes and concerts in Chile. Among his other endeavors have been lectures, master classes and teaching. Stroud has been a faculty member of Stetson University’s Community School for the Arts, Talla- hassee Community College, Chipola College, Thomas University, and Gulf Coast State College. He has published and recorded for the Hands on Teaching method, and has authored articles published in Soundboard magazine. He currently serves on the faculty of Wallace Community College as director of instrumental studies. He also co-directs the Seven Hills Guitar Series. Lambert Academic Publishing recently published his book, J.K. Mertz and Style Hongrois. DUO NS Nicole Riccardo has performed as Principal Flute with the University Philharmonia Orchestra, University Chamber Winds, and FSU Wind Orchestra. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance at Florida State University, where she is also now completing a Master’s degree in performance. Her teachers include Betsy Traba and Eva Amsler. Other lessons and masterclass teachers include Amy Porter, Robert Dick, Carol Wincenc, Marianne Gedigian, Bonita Boyd, and Thomas Robertello. Other then being part of Duo NS and a member of the Force Majeure Woodwind Quin- tet, Nicole often performs as a soloist. Belgian native Sam Desmet studied guitar performance and music pedagogy at the Royal Conservatory in his home country and graduated with highest distinction. Sam is active as a soloist and an enthusiast of guitar chamber music. He has performed in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany and the US. With his first cd “study < > study”, Sam promoted and recorded guitar etudes of re- nowned composers such as Angelo Gilardino and Simone Iannarelli, who praise the cd as an example of Sam’s refined musical personality. Currently he is enrolled in the doctoral program for guitar performance at The Florida State University with world-renowned teacher Bruce Holzman. Other major teachers include Yves Storms, Johan Fostier and Filip Rathé.
