Our Annual “Sanibel School” Cover Contest!
Once again, the 8th graders at the Sanibel School outdid themselves for my Cover Contest.These are just a few of the entries we received.Our winner this year, is Madeline Tomlinson!
Madeline turned in a sketch of a girl skyping from our sunny beaches to a friend in the frozen north.We loved the high-tech idea! Thanks to all of the students & Ms. Drennan.....it was a tough decision.

As the incoming Chairman of the Sanibel/Captiva Chamber of Commerce, I would like to introduce myself to the community. I am a practicing CPA on the Island, specializing in tax, accounting, auditing and bookkeeping services. Originally from Wisconsin, I have my undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Recently I opened a full-service CPA firm along with my wife of 33 years Linda, who runs our Sanibel based CPA firm as Office Manager and Client Relationship Coordinator. We have two sons, Erik, his wife Sarah and Matthew. All three work in the financial industry in Charlotte N.C. along with our two grandchildren Evan 3 ½ years old and Sanibel 6 months.I would like to thank my fellow board members Lee Ellen Harder (Big Arts), Richard Johnson (Bailey’s) and Danny Adams (Holiday Inn) for their service to the Chamber and community whose terms have expired. I am delighted that Lee Ellen Harder maintains her role as secretary. I also want to say thanks to Barb Harrington for the
time and effort she has given over the last year as Chair of our Chamber. Welcome to our incoming board members Chris Davidson (Island Inn), Sonja Smith (CASI), and Donna Puma (Pinocchio’s). All three board members come to us with enthusiasm and qualities that will contribute to the success of our Chamber. Lastly, I would like to thank Chris Heidrick (Heidrick & Company) for becoming Chair-elect. The Sanibel/Captiva Chamber of Commerce never could have achieved this high quality of excellence without the hard work of Chamber President Ric Base, his staff Candy Thompson, Bridgit Stone-Budd, Steve Ehrhart, Tyrone Humbles and all the hard working men and women that work endless hours at our Visitor Center. The future is bright for our Chamber, Topping Frommer’s “Top Ten World Destinations” while celebrating our 50th Anniversary.
