Dear families, friends, and Paratroopers of 2 Fury Since our
last newsletter in May, the Battalion has been extremely busy. Dur-ing this period, 2 Fury completed a full complement of training rang-
ing from individual skills to a very intense and demanding Division
level exercise or Joint Operational Access Exercise (JOAX). The JOAX
was the culminating point for the Battalion during the May and June
time period. We didnt fail to impress the 3rd Brigade Combat Team,
to whom we were attached, and the Division headquarters.
Following our Battalion level intensive training cycle in early May,
the Battalion continued to emphasize our individual skills training.
The Companies ran multiple marksmanship training events and our
Medical Platoon did a terrific job in running multiple week long medi-
cal skills courses for our Paratroopers. Also of note, our Medics
participated in the very demanding Expert Field Medical Badge
(EFMB) test. We had eight medics earn their EFMB; a significantaccomplishment for our medics and unit.
A May highlight was the Division level All American Week. After
kicking off the week with a Division run involving over eighteen thou-
sand Paratroopers, our team had the chance to relax for a few days
and participate in a number of sporting events and competitions.
We concluded the week with an impressive Division Review
(parade). This was one of the first times in a number of years that
the Division has had all six Brigades on the parade field at one time.
It was an impressive sight. Of note, 2 Fury took the top prize as the
overall best Battalion in the Division for the sporting events and
competitions during All American Week no surprise.
Throughout May and June the Battalion continued to hone our
airborne capability and proficiency. We conducted a Battalion level
airborne operation in mid-June during the day. At the end of June
the Battalion was attached to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (505th
PIR) for the JOAX. Our Paratroopers participated in the largest air-
borne operation conducted in over ten years when the Brigade
jumped onto two drop zones simultaneously at night with almost two
thousand Paratroopers; all in less than thirty minutes. Following the
jump, 2 Fury conducted a number of operations with the 3rd Brigade
for the week long exercise. We received nothing but accolades from
3rd Brigade and Division level leadership. Across the board, leaders
were impressed with the discipline, tenacity, and can-do attitude
of our Paratroopers and jun-
ior leaders. It was a greatexperience that I wish every-
one could have witnessed.
The accomplishments of
this organization and our
Paratroopers are simply too
difficult to list out in a one
page summary. I can tell you
with confidence that each
and every Paratrooper contin-
ues to contribute to our over-
all mission. As a team, we are dependent on each other. From the
individual Rifleman or Mechanic to Battalion Commander, everyone is
equally critical to the team. We are also dependent, and thankful, forthe strong support of our 2 Fury families and friends. To put it simply,
our Paratroopers could not do it without the support of our families.
Our spouses, parents, siblings, and children are just as critical to our
mission readiness as the difficult training we conduct.
I wish everyone the very best over the coming summer months
and a well deserved August block leave period. Hopefully everyone
will have a chance to relax for a few weeks and recharge as we pre-
pare to kick off important Fall
training. Thank you for all you
do!!

GREETINGS FROM ALPHA COMPANY!Alpha Company Troopers have been very busy with an
intensive training schedule. In May, Troopers partici-
pated in a myriad of activities during All American Week,
which culminated in a Division Review ceremony on Pike
Field. Shortly following this week, in early June troopers
conducted vigorous land navigation training in both class-
room and field environments. Troopers then conducted a
Battalion-level airborne assault to seize Luzon Drop Zone.
At the end of June, Troopers of A Co conducted a Joint
Access Exercise with 3rd
BCT. Troopers conducted anairborne assault onto Sicily DZ (OBJ Early) and then
seized multiple objectives in order to secure the area for
follow-on friendly operations. Throughout the week
Troopers successfully defended the DZ from repeated
enemy attacks and shined above their peers with their
discipline, initiative, and professionalism.
Heading into the future, 14-26 July A Co will be conduct-
ing training with 3rd Special Forces Group. Troopers will
then take much deserved leave and upon returning, they
will move into training and execution to earn the coveted
Expert Infantry Badge (EIB), a test which measures each
Troopers skill in a multitude of tasks specific to infantry-
men. After EIB, A Co will conduct another Intensive Train-
ing Cycle (ITC) to continue sharpening the skills that have
made it an outstanding organization. Alpha Company
has an exciting future and will continue to strive for excel-
lence to provide the Battalion, the Army, and the people
of the United States our unique capability to defend free-
dom anywhere in the world, under any conditions, at any
time, and win!

Bravo Company
GREETINGS FROM BRAVO COMPANY!June started off with a bang for Bravo Company, literally. At the be-
ginning of the month the Company Fire Support Team (FiST), along
with leadership from each of the platoons, spent the day and night at
Observation Post 13 executing a Fire Support Coordination Exercise
(FSCX). The purpose of this exercise was for companies to demon-
strate their proficiency at integrating indirect fire assets in support of
offensive and defensive operations. In the midst of a steady rain,
platoon Forward Observers (FOs) found themselves calling fire mis-
sions from 120mm mortars, 155mm Howitzers and even A-10 Wart-
hogs in order to allow platoons to assault their objectives. As the
night iteration started, Bravo Company lit up the sky with illuminationrounds as the focus shifted to fires integration in support of a defen-
sive posture. The exercise proved to be an invaluable training event
for all involved as it allowed leaders at every level to see many of our
combat multipliers in action. As a testament to the hard work of the
Bravo Company FiST, our FOs, a job usually held by a Sergeant, were
commended for their performance despite the fact that none of them
were above the rank of Specialist.
The focus for the rest of the month was preparation for the culminat-
ing event, which was 2Fury taking part in 3BCTs Joint Operational
Access Exercise (JOAX). The intent of the operation was to simulate
an airborne assault in order to seize an airfield in a war torn country
that had the capabilities of chemical warfare. On the first night of the
exercise, it wasnt just rain falling from the sky but also 2,000 Para-
troopers from 30 aircraft on two separate drop zones. For the nextsix days Bravo Company was tasked with numerous missions, from
seizing a chemical factory to digging in fighting positions to prevent
the enemy from retaking the airfield. As the operation ended, the
most evident takeaway was the resolve of our men. Paratroopers
were asked to endure many hardships which included daily thunder-
storms, badgering mosquitoes and blistering heat. The latter was
especially enhanced once soldiers donned protective chemical suits
and protective gas masks in response to the threat of a chemical
weapons attack. Through it all, the Paratroopers of Bravo Company
carried their share of the burden and then some.
As this month winds down we would also like to recognize some of
our newcomers, Paratroopers who are leaving, were promoted or
graduated schools. We would first like to wish SGT Underwood, SGT
Newman and SGT Jukich luck as they end their time in service and
transition to the civilian world. SSG Turner will also be leaving shortly
for Civil Affairs. In the past month weve welcomed SGT Prather, SGT
Dreesen, SGT Allen, PV2 Grachen, PFC Kendrick, 1LT Pitcher and 1LT
Wheeler. We want to congratulate SPC Enriquez on passing Special
Forces Assessment and Selection and SPC Sullivan on passing
PSYOPs selection. SPC Chantrill, SPC Ott, SPC Lohman, SPC Kimball,
and SPC Smith were laterally promoted to Corporal, which bears
importance as it signifies their entrance into the ranks of non-
commissioned officers. PFC Merrill and PFC Felske were promoted to
the rank of Specialist. Finally we continue to cheer on SPC Epps as
he remains steadfast in his endeavors at Ranger School.

Charlie Company
GREETING FROM CHARLIECOMPANY!
The Paratroopers of Charlie Company successfully
completed Joint Operational Access Exercise 13-03.
It was the largest airborne operation conducted at
Fort Bragg in over a decade. The operation started
with an Airborne Assault at Sicily Drop Zone that then
transitioned into defensive operations. Throughout
the week, Charlie Company Soldiers participated in
multiple counter reconnaissance patrols and acted asthe Quick Reaction Force for several offensive opera-
tions. The mens hard work was critical to the suc-
cess of the battalion and brigade mission. The weeks
training tested and enhanced the skills and profi-
ciency of Charlie Company Paratroopers at all levels.
We would like to congratulate all of our Soldiers in-
volved for successfully completing a challenging train-
ing event. And as always, we are grateful to their fami-
lies for their ongoing support.
Lastly, Charlie Company would like to say goodbye to
LT LaBarge and LT Walmsley. They will be moving on
to do bigger and better things within the battalion, but
no longer as a part of Charlie Company. Their hard
work and dedication greatly contributed to our suc-cess. Charlie Company would also like to welcome
their replacements, LT Murray and LT Yackley. Both
young Officers will do great things for the company.

Foxtrot Company
GREETINGS FROM FOXTROTCOMPANY!
THE MAINTENANCE PLATOON once again showed theirversatility during austere environment field operations.
SGT Hourigan led the initial air-land charge which con-
sisted of a contact truck, forklift, wrecker, and fueler to
assist HHC with Arrival/Departure Airfield Control
Group operations. Maintenance provided support to all
2Fury organic companies and all attached assets
which included a HIMARS Platoon, ADA Avengers, Engi-
neers, JNN Team, and a Chemical Team. They also
provided CL III support to the elements of 1Panther
during a 48 hour period.
THE DISTRIBUTION PLATOON is continuing to set thebar high for sustainment support during field exercises.
During the JOAX, they provided CL I and III to all the
Companies and enablers for a four day period. The
distribution Platoon was also critical in the defense
established by FSC during phase III of the JOAX.
THE DFAC continues to be the unsung heroes of theBattalion. They worked several hours a day preparing
over 600 meals for a four day period to support the
Battalion and its enablers. They did this while maintain-
ing the highest standards in field sanitation as well.
HQs section proved that no amount of multi tasking istoo difficult for FSC. The TOC managed to track over 9
sections working throughout the AO/LOC during the
entire duration of the JOAX.

Headquarters and Headquarters Company
GREETINGS FROM HHC!Medical Platoon- We would like to congratulate 1LT Chang, SFC
Hagan, SGT Bridges, SPC Meagher, SPC Ornales, SPC Stolarski,
SPC Joyner, and PFC McKoy for earning the Expert Field Medical
Badge. Various medics trained for countless hours refining their
skills in order to provide the best combat medical care possible.
They worked tirelessly to learn and execute all the rigorous chal-
lenges that the course had to offer and ultimately succeeded.
Additionally, the medics did an outstanding job providing top
medical care during the JOAX with the 3 rd Brigade Combat Team.
Overall the training events improved the camaraderie of the pla-
toon and helped develop our craft for future operations.
Mortars- The two major training events that we tackled during the
month of June include both the Fire Support Control Exercise
(FSCX) as well as the Joint Operation Airfield Exercise (JOAX). Dur-
ing the FSCX, our paratroopers continued to get after it by con-
ducting coordinated fire missions with the use of both mortars
and artillery, as paratroopers on the ground maneuvered in close
proximity of actual rounds. During the JOAX, many of our para-
troopers continued to exceed their training limits. With long hours
and brutal weather, the platoon was tested to the limits with a
wide spectrum of obstacles. In the end, the mortar platoon is
trained and ready to fight any adversary on any ground. In lighter
news, the 2Fury family has been extended with the marriage of
PFC Mark Beck and Tyler Baker, as well as the marriage of SPCEthan Reber and Kelly Carter. Congratulations!
Scouts- Over the course of the last month, the troopers from the 2
-508th PIR Scout Platoon have engaged in a number of training
events that span from Basic Rifle Marksmanship, to being an
instrumental piece in a multi Brigade Joint Operation Air Exercise
that encompassed two brigades, 11 battalions, and more than 50
companies. On the night of 24JUNE2013 the Scout Platoon was
inserted to Sicily drop zone where they conducted simulated com-
bat operations over the next 7 days. SFC Alvey, SSG Huggins, and
SPC Lopez led the platoon through a week of rigorous training
that ranged from conducting Reconnaissance all the way to con-
ducting combat operations in an area where chemical weapons
have been employed. In the upcoming weeks the Scouts will con-
tinue to prepare themselves through both a life fire exercise onOP 13 and an External Evaluation the following week.
Congratulations are in order for SPC Walisky who graduated from
the 82nd Airborne Division's Pre-Ranger Course on 10JULY2013.
SPC Walisky reports to the US Army Ranger School on 20JU-
LY2013. Good luck Wali!

Chaplains CornerThe 2FURY UMT would like to give special thanks to Delta
Company for constructing the field expedient Chapel pic-
tured above. Field ministry is always a terrific opportunity
to connect with our Troopers. Chaplain Belton had a blast
moving around Sicily Drop Zone during the JOAX to do just
that. Between counseling and field services, it was an
honor to live up to the Chaplain Corps motto of bringing
God to Soldiers and Soldiers to God.
