The benefits of music in general, and singing in particular, have long been recognised in everyone, but none more so than in Parkinson’s Disease. In this case however, the group has gone from strength to strength, now regularly performing at venues throughout the area with well-known sea shanties and folk songs. They encourage audiences to join in by displaying most of the lyrics.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an evening of singing these rollicking salty songs as well as popular folk songs.

Proceeds will be split between the church and the charity.

Organ and Clarinet ClassicsDavid Robinson and Idony Perrett, will perform a programme to include works by Bach, Mozart, Weber and Widor.David is a renowned local organist who was very keen to come and play the newly refurbished organ at St. Nectan’s. He himself suggested that “organ recitals on their own can be a bit odd”, so he is bringing with him a brilliant young clarinet soloist to add colour and variety to the programme. Idony, who comes from Bude and is currently a scholar at the Welsh School of Music and Drama, will be going to the Royal College of Music in September to continue her studies. The programme will include works byBach, Mozart, Weber and Widor and, including an interval, should finish around 4.30pm.

Thursday 5 October 6pmThe AmmonitesThis group from Bristol is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and wants to offer a concert of mostly sacred choral music in the church.

Formed by John Stone, in a double bit of word play, they joke they are akin to ‘old fossils’, hence the name!
