choirs, bands and orchestra sections. Quota wishes to further the enrichment experiences of all
entrants and we do our best to satisfy the requirements of each person wishing to enter. Our wish
is to cater for beginners to advanced as well as those who simply wish to share their talents in a
recognisable manner. Whether your interest is dilettante, highly informed or ready for a
reawakening experience, you are welcome.
All competitors will find their appreciation of their beloved art form widened by the experience.
You will enhance your skills in listening and observing as a bonus to developing abilities of creative
expression in performance.
All participants do so in a spirit of friendly competition in a forum where stage experience can be
achieved. Competitors are asked to respect the organisers, adjudicator, audience and fellow
competitors.
Competitors from past Eisteddfods have progressed to success in Australian National Competitions,
study and performance overseas, in stage musicals and concert halls and in recording and
broadcasting.
We hope that you are inspired to broaden your horizons.

There is a magic about music. It enables us to express our noblest thoughts and feelings.
It engages our imaginations. It provides us with unparalleled opportunities to assert our
uniqueness. In a world increasingly dominated by electronic technology music is a natural
refreshing essence.
Almost everyone who has made a major contribution to educational thought since Plato has agreed
that music should be an integral part of the basic education of every young person.
Music exalts the human spirit. It brings joy and pleasure to men, women and children in every
society and every culture. It brings us solace in the ordinary activities of daily life and it’s an
indispensable adjunct to both our happiest and our most solemn occasions. It represents one of
the most basic instincts in human beings. That’s why it has played such an important role in every
known civilization. Music is a source of reconciliation, exhilaration and hope.
The performance of music is one of the few educational pursuits that truly combines the physical,
emotional and intellectual dimensions of us all. One must draw on physical capabilities much like
an athlete; one must possess an acute awareness and understanding of the power of human
emotion, much like a psychologist; one must understand the structure and notation of the musical
language, much like a mathematician or a scientist. Few disciplines allow one to integrate so many
different aspects of self as music does and few disciplines provide one with as complete an array of
experiences which, as the great German philosopher of the 1800’s, Friedrich Nietzsche so
accurately stated, ‘makes life worth living’.
Music relaxes, rejuvenates and revitalizes the soul. Music is Vitamin M
