RFU Marriott SevensObjectiveDeliver a below the line campaign that delivers engagement with new audiences for Rugby Sevens and that delivers sell-out crowds for the whole weekend
What we have done so farWith over 150,000 tickets to sell, we looked at key drivers of engagement with the traditional rugby audience, the lapsed fans, the sports fans and the family audience. By segmenting and targeting the four audience groups we were able to develop specific content-led assets to talk to the audiences in the most powerful way. As part of the activity a partnership with Star Wars was formed to engage family and sports fans in general, with content captured across London in inspiring places. For families we created the ultimate fancy dress content with Sevens players challenging each other to launch rockets in the Twickenham car park. For the rugby fans we ran a media training day at Twickenham with media being 'allowed' to play on the hallowed turf at the home of rugby.
Results to dateTo date we have delivered over 35 pieces of coverage, with tens of thousands of views of online content. The Saturday is now sold out two weeks ahead of last year and we are focused on the Sunday activity.
