MESSAGE FROM THE GLOBAL SERVICES TEAM

For nearly 20 years, NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) Global Services has coordinated care for the thousands of patients who come to NYP from over 100 countries. Providing high-quality care with compassion and dedicated attention has been central to our mission, and remains our focus today as we expand our programs and services.

Over the last fi ve years, we increased our team’s presence with in-country representatives and our fi rst Global Services offi ce outside of the United States to offer even better coordination of care. We launched the Executive Health program, partnering with our patients to achieve optimal health. Through our Corporate Health and Institutional Collaboration teams, we actively facilitate access to the expertise of NYP on a global scale by working with hospitals, physicians, universities, governments, and corporations in increasingly innovative ways.

As we look to the future, our team will continue to expand the hospital’s mission of being the leading provider of world-class patient care, teaching, and research to local, state, national, and international communities. For example, as the university hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College, we are implementing the Global Education and Training Program to facilitate knowledge transfer among physicians from around the world. NYP is launching an integrative health program to provide patients with alternative options to reach their health goals. We will also advance how we engage the corporate community to better serve their employees' needs. And we will do all of this while continuing to provide exceptional care to our global patients, expanding our presence in New York and other countries, and applying the latest technologies to better coordinate care and outreach to our patients, referring physicians, and other organizations.

At NewYork-Presbyterian, we always put patients fi rst, and we stand proud in all that we do. Global Services is ready and available to connect patients and physicians from around the globe with one of the best academic medical centers in the world.

It is a great privilege to care for patients who travel from around the world to NewYork-Presbyterian for medical care. Our teams of physicians provide state-of-the-art care to our entrusted international patients. As clinicians, we are delighted when the journey is complete and a patient returns to his or her home and doctor, having had a successful experience.

– Lawrence Katz, MD, Medical Director, Global ServicesCardiology and Internal Medicine

Working with the Global Services team has been incredibly rewarding. At NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, we care for the sickest of children. Through Global Services, we have been able to reach far beyond our borders to help those in need. It is incredible to see the obstacles parents will endure in their search for a doctor to help their child. With a caring and attentive approach, our coordinators facilitate the most difficult of transfers, providing hope and guidance to families. It is a privilege to work so closely with this dynamic and compassionate team, and I look forward to the continued expansion of services as we provide medical expertise that our patients cannot find close to home.

– Teresa McCann, MD, Medical Director, Global ServicesAssistant Professor of Pediatrics, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

We are honored to welcome and care for international patients, providing top-notch clinical expertise and offering state-of-the-art technology. Global Patient Services significantly enhances the patient and physician experience. The group embodies the mission and vision of NewYork-Presbyterian.

– Paul Lee, MD, Medical Director, Global ServicesAssistant Professor of Medicine, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

At NewYork-Presbyterian, we are able to "turn on" patients’ immune systems to fight their cancers, and we can often achieve this without chemotherapy. My mission is to leverage our immunotherapy expertise and research to help our international patients in their quest for a cure.
