Analysis

This can be seen at the top of the poster and gives a brief back story to the movie telling the viewer that in the first week of the case, there was no trace of the infection, by week two no warning was given of what it could do and where it came from, by week eight the had an epidemic on their hands and had no control over the infection. By the sixteenth week it appears that they attempted to create a cure for those infected, but failed. Now, week twenty eight ‘NO ESCAPE’ , entails that whatever is awaiting the viewer in the film can not be redone and nobody can escape it. This method seems to be very effective for attracting viewers, as it gives them a little bit of knowledge, but only enough to make them want to know more, making them want to go see the movie to learn that extra knowledge.

The main image gives the viewer many questions at the first viewing of the poster but also tells them a lot too. It tells them that the movie is likely to be set in London, given away by the iconic image of big ben in the background. It also tells them that there is likely to be a military force involved, shown by the army helicopters approaching in the distance.

In the centre of the image we can see a young boy and girl who appear to be frightened and alone, and we can see this by the expression on the boys face. The female seems to be the one looking out for the boy, putting on a brave face and comforting him. The two appear to have a family relationship, brother or sister judging by the look of their age.

In front of the city we can see the dozens of zombies walking towards the boy and girl, or at least we are lead to believe they are zombies, from their stance and sheer number of them. This is also backed up by the many dead bodies surrounding the boy and girl, which where either people killed by zombies, or zombies killed by the army.

The way the title is written and displayed is an effective way of reaching out to the films horror genre. Writing in bold red capitals is usually associated with horror films and 28 weeks later has done just that. What is also interesting is that the poster features a biohazard symbol behind the title, which also blends into the main image of the poster. This suggests that there will be a some sort of quarantine in the film because of possibly a chemical weapon or an experiment gone wrong. It leaves many questions unanswered.

The poster then has a credit block at the bottom of the poster such as the majority of modern film posters do. Just like other credit blocks, this one features studio names, production company's, actors names from the film and also a website for the film which people can visit, which is usually just a stand alone web page promoting the film
