WHAT IS 28 DAYS VEGAN?

28 Days Vegan is a self-taught Vegan introduction program created for WILD

FIRE Magazine. WILD FIRE is asking vegetarians and meat-eaters to live vegan

for 28 days, watch 4 documentaries and inform themselves about Veganism.

Participants are asked to answer a few questions each week, their answers are

likely to be summarized and featured in WILD FIRE magazine to help others start

living vegan.

Participants are not just asked to eat vegan they are asked to live vegan too.

Living vegan means not eating animal products these include but are not limited

to; dairy products, cheese, milk, butter, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, seafood,

beeswax, honey, or other animal derived products, not using animal tested or

animal derived products including cosmetics, household products etc, not

wearing silk, fur, leather, wool, feathers, pearl, bone or other animal materials,

and not visiting or participating in animal circuses, aquariums, rodeos, animal

racing, or other animal exploiting activities.

WILD FIRE also recommends that participants buy fair-trade and organic where

possible.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to watch all four documentaries?

A: Yes please do. It is important to sit down and watch these documentaries from

start to finish. Some parts of these documentaries are confronting and do contain

graphic scenes but please do not let this stop you from watching them. You can

watch them in any order during any stage of 28 Days Vegan but it is

recommended that you watch one per week. Please be sure to fill in the question

sheet after each documentary. Some of these documentaries can be viewed

legally online, you may also find them at your local library or video store, if you

can not find all four please contact us and we will arrange something for you.

Q: I just found out something I ate wasn’t vegan. What should I do?

A: Write about it in this weeks ‘Slip-Up’ section. It is there for accidental moments

like these.

Q: Can I eat fish?

A: No, fish are animals too. Other “foods” vegans do not eat are meat, eggs,

dairy, gelatine, honey and other animal derived foods and drink. Many vegans

also avoid non-sustainably harvested palm oil.

HELPFUL TIPS

- Visit the websites listed on the website resource page you will be sure to find

heaps of helpful information about living vegan.

- Check out your local vegan/vegetarian society which is probably listed on the

previous page. They contain lots of vegan information specific to your area.

- Do not feel disadvantaged if you do not have internet access, your local library

is likely to have books about veganism, and some local vegetarian hot-spots may

have notice boards about vegan events and meet-up.

- Being vegan is always easier when you have support. Get a friend to do 28

Days Vegan with you and/or attend vegan meet-ups to make new vegan friends.

- You can find lots of vegan products in the Health Food aisle of supermarkets.

- For Australians: Aldi supermarket labels its vegan food as vegan (although be

wary of honey as Aldi considers it vegan.)

- Check packaged food labels for these sneaky non-vegan ingredients:

120 – Cochineal

441 – Gelatine

469 – Sodium Caseinate

542 – Bone Phosphate

901 – Beeswax

904 – Shellac
