3rd Sunday of Easter

St. Joseph the Worker This feast falls on the first day of the month of May the month that is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. May Day" has long been dedicated to labour and the working man. It is fitting that St. Joseph, a working man who became the foster-father of Christ and patron of the universal Church, should be honoured on this day.

Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II all make reference to the Christian spirit that should permeate one's work, after the example of St. Joseph. In addition to this, there is a special dignity and value to the work done in caring for the family.

"Where men and women, in the course of gaining a livelihood for themselves and their families, offer appropriate service to society, they can be confident that their personal efforts promote the work of the Creator, confer benefits on their fellow-men, and help to realize God's plan in history" - (Excerpt from the Vatican II document on the modern world)

This really helps our finances. However, please note that what you donate as gift aid to ALL YOUR CHARITIES TOTALLED UP by law must be less than what you pay in taxes.

ENVELOPES : Those who use the envelopes will have noticed you do not have any more as

they should all be used up. For some time new envelopes have been available.

If you have not collected yours check at the back of the church. They will remain there

until Holy Week and then be in the parish office so ask Patricia.

2nd Sunday

of Easter

BRAZIL COINS AND CLOTHES….. Please take a jar from the back of the church to collect spare coins for Brazil. This money helps small projects that get very little and often no other support. We also send 2 cases of clothes to Brazil in September and December. People have been very good in the past, instead of throwing out children’s clothes they handed them in to send to Brazil. We are looking for clothes for boys/girls from 2 year of age to early teens. it’s a tropical country so there’s no need for winter woollies.

WEE BOX, BIG THANKS

Thanks to everyone in the Parish who supported SCIAF’s Lenten Appeal

Thank you once again for your great generosity

Wishing you all a joyful Easter

Also a special thanks for the additional Holy week

collection for relief of those effected by cyclone

IDAI that hit Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
