The Curbtender Control PanelHour Meters and Cycle Counters

The Control Panel provides (3) permanent hour meters and (8) permanent counters. These features all help the service technician to better understand the actual performance history of the unit and use them for troubleshooting and service life. Additionally, the control panel provides (2) resettable counters; one for the arm and one for the pack cycles. These resettable counters can be used to record actual collection rates and performance on a daily or weekly basis.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

There are three separate shut down systems:

•Filter Full Warning: The filter full warning is a progressive system. If the filter is measured to be at 80% of bypass pressure for a continuous 60 minutes, the control panel will give an audible and visual warning. The audible and visual warning will progressively increase after 6 and 12 hours of continuous filter bypass after which time, the pump will be disabled. The pump will be resettable after changing the bypassing filter element.

•Hydraulic Oil High Temperature Warning: The high oil temperature shut down warning will provide an audible and visual warning for 5 minutes followed by the pump shut down. The unit will reset itself after the temperature is reduced to acceptable operating temperatures.

•Hydraulic Oil Low Level Warning: The low oil level shut down warning will provide an audible and visual warning for 30 seconds followed by the pump shut down. The unit will reset itself after the proper level has been achieved.

The Curbtender management shut down system is the first in the industry. The shut down system monitors the critical measurements of the hydraulic system and notifies the operator with audible and visual indicators if they become out of tolerance. In addition, if not corrected in a specified time frame, the shut down system will protect the Curbtender and shut the hydraulic pump off. The shut down system works like a “Kysor®” shutdown system on a truck, to protect your Curbtender.

Joystick Controls With (4) Great Control Options

The Curbtender comes with a standard electric Joystick to run all the arm functions. Additionally, we offer optional three-lever rocker switch controls that can be positions on the left hand console area, right hand door area, or even under the drivers seat for operation from ground level. The Curbtender can be outfitted with one set of controls or even with all four sets. The controls are ergonomically designed with easy finger actuation and the primary controls come with a fully adjustable arm rest.

Right Hand-External use rocker switches. Located under RH seat used when operator is outside the cab.

Center Console rocker switches: Used either in place of or in addition to the joystick.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

Faster Smoother Power Arm•The Curbtender Power Arm is now smoother and faster due to the combination of electrical proximity switches and the PLC smoothing software.

•The arm now uses simultaneous actions to smooth the up to dump transition and the undump to down transition

•This smoothing is accomplished by using the proximity switches to shift the dump hydraulic function on while up function is still on. The software then turns the up function off after a time out delay resulting in a faster and smoother arm performance.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

The “One Touch” option is available to be installed on a Wayne Curbtender. A rocker switch located to right of the Warning Light Switch controls this automatic arm cycle. The “One Touch” power arm automatic control system allows the operator to grasp, dump and return the cart to the original location and return the arm to the home position. The “One Touch” System is easy to operate: •Simply manually move the arm out to engage the cart by moving the joystick to the right. •Grip the cart by activating the grip rocker switch. •Depress the “One Touch” button and hold it. While holding the one touch button, the cart will be lifted, dumped, and returned to the original location, released and the arm will move back to the home position. Note: If the “One Touch” button is released during the automatic cycle, the arm will return to the manual mode.

“One Touch™ ” Control Option

Click and Plug WaterproofWire Harness

•The new fully wrapped waterproof wire harness has IP67 Deutsch connectors throughout. •The wire harness contains color coded and numerically labeled wires throughout for easy identification. •The wire harness is “click and plug” for easy troubleshooting and for easy disassembly for changing out components. •The wire harness includes, as standard, all connections for the options on the Curbtender. •The Curbtender connectors in harness are ultrasonic welded and weather sealed.

Solid State Prox Switches

The Curbtender has improved electrical components: •No rat tail or toggle switches can be found on Curbtender. •All of the electrical components are solid state proximity switches•All the same part number•All with IP67 Deutsch connectors.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

Stronger Round Lower Arm With Bolt On Grippers

The new Curbtender has a stronger lighter lower arm. The standard gripper arms have been redesigned to be bolt-on to the pivot assembly. The bolt-on design result in a more secure attachment and longer life. The pin-on option is still available for those users that need to change the grippers on the route.

Hydraulic Spool Valve Promotes Reliable & Fast Packing For Tip-To-Dump Model

•The Regeneration Circuit:•Provides a faster, lower force hopper-clearing cycle•Accomplished by actuating both spools, this lets the return flow from the cylinder to re-enter into the pack side resulting in a faster hopper-clearing pack cycle.

•The Power Packing Circuit:•Accomplished by actuating one spool.•When engaged the “Power Packing” indicator light is illuminated on the control panel and provides the full 83,000 pounds of pack force at a slower cycle speed. •This mode is only activated when the system senses high hydraulic pressure during the regenerative packing cycle.

In Summary, the packer is fast when it needs to be and powerful when it needs to be.

•Fast, 9 second Pack Cycle at 1200 PRM•Simple to Understand, Simple to Use. •The two spool pack valve assembly is actuated with a top mounted air actuator. •The air actuated valve is easy to troubleshoot and is very reliable. •The two spools provide the packer with two separate packing circuits: A regeneration circuit and a power packing circuit.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

Advanced Hydraulic System

The Improved Curbtender Hydraulic System Design

•Efficient, Low Noise, Fuel Saving Hydraulic Design: The Dension Tandem Vane pump allows for efficient operation with either the Low RPM operating system or the standard 1200 RPM systems. The pump control utilizes a pressure-on-demand pump activation system that energizes the pump(s) only when pressure and flow are required. Additionally, the system employs an hydraulic overspeed protection with flow limiting dump valves. The control system activates the flow limiting dump valves only when the packer functions are engaged. This results in less horsepower consumption, less system heat, fuel savings, and longer system life.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

•Auto-Neutral Control System: The optional auto neutral system allows the operator to maintain control of the truck and the Power Arm without the need to manually shift the transmission. When the operator moves the joystick to engage the Power Arm, the transmission will automatically shift to neutral (the gear shift indicator will blink when the auto-neutral function is activated). The operator is then free to accelerate the engine up to the maximum RPM setting of 1400 RPM. (A 1400 RPM electronic throttle block is installed). When the operator returns the arm to the home position, the transmission will shift back to drive if the operators foot is on the service brake and if the engine RPM is below 900 RPM.

Curbtender Upgrades & Advantages

• Standard RPM Operating System: The standard 1200 RPM operating system is commonly used with the auto neutral option. The truck engine is accelerated by the operator from 800 RPM to the maximum 1400 RPM during the collection route. A 1400 maximum RPM throttle block limits the engine to an acceptable operating RPM resulting in fast and efficient collection.

• Low RPM Lift Arm and Packer System: (Available on Full Eject Only.) This optional system provides full packer speed at idle RPM. This feature should be specified when low RPM performance is needed when collecting multiple carts at close spacing.

•Two Speed Arm Control: (Available on low RPM systems only.) The optional two speed control provides the operator the ability to slow the arm speed on demand. This feature is recommended when slow-methodical arm control is needed.

•Low RPM Lift Arm System: The optional Low RPM operating system allows for full speed arm cycles times at idle (800 RPM) while the truck transmission remains in drive. In addition, the Curbtender control system limits the engine RPMs to 800 RPM maximum whenever the Power Arm is in operation. The combination of these features results in a fast operating cycle with reduced engine noise, increased fuel efficiency and improved collection rate due to less transmission shifting. The operator stays on the collection route with the transmission remaining in drive and when collecting, the truck remains at idle.
