At least, that’s what the UCLA coach said after his third-seeded Bruins fell to No. 2 Kentucky, 86-75, at FedExForum. “I said it last week, and I’ll reiter- ate it again even more so that I love Los Angeles. To begin with, it’s a beautiful place, and our family has fallen in love with it,” Alford said. “I’m very happy. I’m at UCLA. I don’t know of a lot of people that are out there wanting to leave UCLA.” Rumors have run rampant that Al- ford, who led Indiana as a player to the 1987 national title, would replace fired Hoosiers coach Tom Crean. FOX Sports analyst Doug Gottlieb said it was a “done deal,” and several other notable outlets have reported the possibility Alford would go back to Bloomington, Ind. But that doesn’t appear to be the case. “I am absolutely 100 percent not going to Indiana. Staying at UCLA. I am happy. Love it here,” Alford, an Indiana native, later told ESPN. “Have a great class coming in, and [a] brand-new practice facility. Obvi- ously, I love my alma mater. Com- mitted to UCLA. I am not going to talk to Indiana. I am staying a Bruin.” While Lonzo Ball is headed to the NBA, announcing his UCLA career was over after the loss, the Bruins will welcome the second-ranked re- cruiting class in the country next year, according to Scout.com, led by five-star prospects Jaylen Hands and Kris Wilkes. They also are opening a new state-of-the-art bas- ketball practice facility, called the The Mo Ostin Basketball Center, and are coming off their most wins — 31 — in a season since 2007-08. “I’m very, very happy where I’m at, and hopefully that’ll continue,” Alford said.
