The stages are a mixture of hard base roads with fast and flowing, then tight and

twisty sections running through a combination of open areas and dense

rainforests.

JARI-MATTI LATVALA SOTI was expecting a very very fast road and trees and that is what we have overhere but there were also roads which are very open and it reminds me from NewZealand so that was a bit of a surprise.

Oekivao sam veoma brz put i drvee, i to i jeste ono to i imamo ovde. Ali,takodje imamo i iroke puteve koji me podseaju na Novi Zeland, to je zamene bilo malo iznenadjujue.

SEBASTIEN LOEB SOTThe stages are looking good, nice, maybe not easy in some parts because it isvery fast and especially if its raining it can be very tricky.

Etape izgledaju dobro, moda nee biti lako na nekim delovima, jer je veomabrzo. Pogotovo ako pada kia, to moe biti veoma problematino.

PETTER SOLBERG SOTThe stages are very fast and narrow and I think the pace notes will be veryimportant here so I think we just have to keep focusing and just try to find out

how it goes.

Coffs Harbour has welcomed the WRC with open arms and thousands of Aussiesturned out for the pre-event rally show and ceremonial start. Its a brand newlocation for Rallyings elite drivers, but the early signs were really promising,despite an early evening rain shower. Our man of the moment Mikko Hirvonen

getting a warm welcome as he passes over the start ramp.

Immediately following that was the first passes through the Coffs Superspecialstage, a 3.7 kilometre blast around the streets of the towns harbour area. Againplenty of fans lining the streets despite the wet weather, and the slipperytarmac proved really tricky in these gravel spec cars.

It was a strong start for the two Citroen boys, a win a piece for Loeb and Ogier,with the latter having the slight edge after stage 2. Ogier again showing hisprowess on sealed surfaces, Sebastien up by 6 tenths of a second after theopening action.

Mikko Hirvonen is beginning to loseground in the championship race, he and his compatriot Jari-Matti Latvala willhope their superior road position counts. Petter Solberg is 5th on the road, thencomes the M-Sport Stobart pair of Matt Wilson and Henning Solberg. Khaled AlQassimi is back for his 6th outing of the season, Peter Van Merksteijn, Ken Blockand Evgeny Novikov are all making their Australia debuts.

Petter Solberg is a former winner of Rally Australia in its old location in Perth.The Citroen privateer has been a little off the pace in recent rallies, but wasreally pleased with the performance of his DS3 in the pre-event Shakedown.
