Ultraviolet radiation. Follow instructions. Avoid overexposure. As with natural sunlight, overexposure can causeeye and skin injury and allergic reactions. Repeated exposure may cause premature aging of the skin and skin

cancer. WEAR PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR; FAILURE TO MAY RESULT IN SEVERE BURNS OR LONG-TERM INJURY TO THE EYES. If dis-comfort develops, discontinue use and consult a physician. Medications or cosmetics may increase your sensitivity to the ultravioletradiation. Consult physician before using sunlamp if you are using medications or have a history of skin problems or believe yourselfespecially sensitive to sunlight. If you do not tan in the sun, you are unlikely to tan from the use of this product. Children, the elderly,or fair skinned people who always burn easily and either never tan or tan minimally should not use this equipment.

To use, lie down under canopy and pull down as far as adjustment will allow maintaining at least 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) between yourbody and the wire grid. Do not use without wire grid in place. Untanned persons should not tan on consecutive days during their firstweek of tanning. Never tan more than once a day. Tanning normally appears after the first few sessions and maximizes after approxi-mately four weeks. Tan once or twice per week thereafter to maintain appearance. Persons already having a base tan may begin atadvanced levels corresponding to the extent of their base tan.

New lamps emit approximately 10% more ultraviolet radiation during the first 50 hours of operation. Recommended tanning timesshould therefore be reduced by approximately 10% during that period.

WARNING: • Read the instructions booklet before using this sunlamp product. • All persons in the room should wear protectiveeyewear when lamps are on. Recommended eyewear: provided eyeshields or equivalent eyewear as defined under 21 CFR 1040.20.Other types of eyewear may not provide adequate protection.

Installation - Pre-Installation Planning

Pre-Installation PlanningBefore you begin to use your sun canopy, you should observe the following pre-instal-lation considerations.

The SunQuest® 1000S operates from a120V AC source. You should have a NEMA5-15R electrical outlet (like the one shownbelow) installed in the room in which youwill use the unit. are and Maintenance

Thorough Periodic Cleaning

IntroductionThe cooling fan draws air through the unitand over time will cause a dust buildup onthe lamps and reflector. This will reduce thetanning effectiveness of the bed. When adust buildup is observed, it is necessary tothoroughly clean the inside of the canopy.

Note! The canopy can be rotated to a verti-cal position to aid in cleaning and relamp-ing. Do not attempt to rotate past this pointas damage may occur.

Cleaning the CanopyStep 1 Remove the metal grill and lamps

as described in Replacing Lamps.

Step 2 With a soft cloth, wipe the entirelength of each lamp to removeany film buildup.

Step 3 Clean the grill with a non-ammo-nia disinfectant cleaner.

Step 4 Wipe the reflectors with a cleandamp cloth.

Step 5 Re-install the lamps and metalgrill.

Mechanical Inspection

Your sun canopy has been built for years ofservice. To ensure trouble-free operationthroughout its life, inspect the unit’smechanical integrity every 400-500 hoursof use.

• Inspect the unit’s fasteners verifyingthat all are firmly in place.

• Inspect the gas spring for signs of wear.Gas springs that will not hold thecanopy in the full open position whenraised should be immediately replaced.

• Inspect the timer as indicated in thismanual under Timer Maintenance.

• Inspect the AC power cord and itsconnections.

WARNINGShock hazard.Disconnect power before servicing.

Timer Maintenance

Your SunQuest® sun canopy is equippedwith a backup shut-off timer which willautomatically turn off the canopy in theunlikely event of a malfunction of the pri-mary timer. This important safety featurealso prevents the user from resetting thetimer before the end of the preset maxi-mum time interval. The electronic timerlimiting circuit is automatically reset eachtime the primary timer is turned to theOFF position.

Annually, or whenever your unit is re-lamped, check the operation and accura-cy of the timer system as follows.

Step 1 Obtain an accurate watch capa-ble of measuring in seconds. Setthe timer to its maximum inter-val. Using the watch, time howlong the lamps remain on. Thelamps should shut off withinplus or minus 10% of the maxi-mum timer interval.

Step 2 Set the timer to the maximumtime interval. Wait ten minutes, then turn the knob back to themaximum time position. Theelectronic time limiting circuitshould turn the lamps off at anelapsed time equal to approxi-mately 10% beyond the maxi-mum timer interval, eventhough the primary timer con-tinues to show time left.

Contact your place of purchase if yourtimer does not operate properly, or if youexperience difficulty with these tests.

Care and Maintenance - Timer Maintenance

CAUTIONDo not perform these tests with a personunder the canopy.Doing so may lead to overexposure whichcan cause eye and skin injury and allergicreactions.

roubleshooting

Problem Solution

Lamps fail to light

One or more lamps fail tolight
