GUJARAT

Declaring black fungal infection/

mucormycosis as an epidemic

The Gujarat government as per order dated

19/05/2021 declared the black fungal

infection/ mucormycosis as an epidemic in

the state under the Epidemic Diseases Act

1897. The government & private hospitals

and medical colleges treating the black

fungus disease will have to follow guidelines

issued by the Union Health Ministry as well

as Indian Council of Medical Research

(ICMR) for screening, diagnosis and

treatment. Few hospitals had been identified

by Gujarat government for treating this

disease. Few injections with their rates had

been authorised by the government for

treating black fungus.

Extension of Night Curfew

In an attempt to contain COVID-19 cases,

the Gujarat government announced an

extension to the ongoing night curfew in 36

cities from 8 pm to 6 am from 21 May till 28

May. Apart from essential services, other

shops and establishments may operate

business between 9 am to 3 pm in these

cities.

MADHYA PRADESH

Madhya Pradesh Government to

provide aid of Rs 5 lakh to kin of

government employees who died of

COVID-19

The Madhya Pradesh government launched

a scheme to provide financial assistance of

Rs 5 lakh to the families of its employees

who died of COVID-19. The schemes will be

meant for all regular, daily wagers,

contractual and outsourced employees who

died due to the coronavirus infection and

would be provided under the Mukhyamantri

COVID-19 Vishesh Anugrah Yojana (for

financial assistance to families of deceased

employees) and the Mukhyamantri COVID-

19 Anukampa Niyukti Yojana.

Government of Madhya Pradesh to

set up medical college in Ujjain

The Madhya Pradesh government

tannounced to set up a new Medical College

in Ujjain. Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Shivraj

Singh Chouhan during his visit to Ujjain

directed officers to prepare a proposal to be

sent to Central government for the same.

Changes in Lockdown guideline in

Indore district

Making changes to the previously issued

guidelines, Indore District Administration

released new guidelines on 20thMay and

imposed a strict lockdown till 28thMay

prohibiting even fruits/vegetable vendor,

grocery shops on their movement. Grocery

home delivery agencies (Bigbasket/on-door

etc.) have been advised to make supplies

with only two staff and warehouses are

permitted to open at specified time limits

only. However, industrial employees/staff

have been permitted to travel to their offices

with valid ID cards.

Minister, Madhya Pradesh and CII office

bearers & corporate sector on 20 May

2021to understand COVID 19 vaccination

plan of Industry in Madhya Pradesh and seek

other suggestion/support required from state

towards the same. Along with the Hon’ble

Chief Minister, Mr Sanjay Shukla IAS,

Principal Secretary, Department of IP&IP,

Govt. of MP, Mr B. Thiagrajan, Chairman, CII

Western Region & Managing Director,

Bluestar Ltd., Mr Sunil Chordia, Dy.

Chairman, CII Western Region & Managing

Director, Rajratan Global Wires Ltd. And Mr

Saurabh Sangla, Chairman, CII Madhya

Pradesh & Executive Director, Adroit

Industries (India) Ltd. were also present at

the interaction.

Shri Chouhan informed that around one

crore citizens have been vaccinated with

atleast first dose of vaccines In Madhya

Pradesh and the state government is working

on a mission mode to vaccinate the rest of

the citizens. He urged the corporate sector to

come forward and explore on possibility of

manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines in the

state and appointed Mr Sanjay Shukla,

Principal Secretary, Industries Department

as the nodal officer for further co-ordination.

He also urged industries to come forward

and support the state government in its

vaccination drive.

CII North Maharashtra zone organised an

interaction with Dr Harshdeep Kamble,

Development Commissioner, Industries,

Government of Maharashtra on 21 May

2021. The strict lockdown in Nashik district

since 12 May 2021 has affected the

consumer sentiment and disrupted the global

supply as the industries were shut for the

past 10 days. Members requested Dr

Kamble to allow industry operations from the

coming week without any restrictions. Dr

Kamble assured that he will look into the

matter and discuss the same with the District

Collector of Nashik.

Meeting with Mr Suraj Mandhare,

Collector, Nashik District

CII North Maharashtra zonal organised a

meeting with Mr Suraj Mandhare, Collector,

Nashik District on 21 May 2021 wherein

industrial members requested the collector to

allow industries to work from 24 May without

any restrictions as the manufacturing

facilities were shut due to lockdown imposed

by the district administration, thereby

affecting the global supply chain. The District

Collector accepted the suggestions given by

members and mentioned that companies in

the essential category will operate at full

capacity, while remaining will operate with 50

per cent capacity from 24 May 2021. Mr

Mandhare also urged that companies must

arrange for pick-up and drop service.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive

as well as institutional partnerships with 394 counterpart organizations in 133 countries, CII

serves as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community.
