    Terms & Conditions

    By participating in 24H-CodeIT, the hackathon organised by ING, entrants agree to be bound by, and are deemed to have read and understood these terms and conditions.

    What is 24H-CodeIT?

    24H-CodeIT is a hackathon hosted by ING. It will start on the 12th of November 2014 at 2 pm and end on the 13th of November at 6 pm. The event will take place at theKromhouthal in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. An exact time schedule of the programme will be provided at a later date. During 24H-CodeIT, all participants will work on a 24-hour assignment with their teams.

    What are the Rules of the Game?

    Enrolment

    1. All participants must be aged 16 years or over. If you are younger than 18 years, please make sure that your parents allow your participation.2. All participants must register for 24H-CodeIT individually before Wednesday, October 15th via www.24hcodeit.nl.3. Participation in 24H-CodeIT is only allowed if you belong to one of these three categories:

    a. Internal ING developer (i.e. ING employee)b. External developer/suppliers & vendors, namely:

    i. developers who are directly contracted by ING (ZZPers) orii. developers who work for a supplier or vendor of ING

    c. Students (min. age for participation is 16)4. During registration, participants will indicate whether they are already member of a team or not. As from mid of October, individual entrants have the possibility to get in

    touch with each other and form teams. As an individual participant, you also have the possibility to join existing teams with their approval. Participants are allowed tocompete in one team only and cannot be signed up for multiple teams. Individual registration for 24H-CodeIT is desired before Wednesday the 15th of October. Thesocial platform for further team registration will go live mid October.

    5. In addition to individual registration, each team must have registered its team profile on the social platform for 24H-CodeIT via www.24hcodeit.nl by November 1st.Consequently, each participant is both registered individually and named in the team registration.

    6. Teams consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. Each team will assign a team captain and pick a team name. Entrants who represent a supplier orvendor of ING are advised to contact their ING account managers before officially registering a team.

    Facilities

    7. 24H-CodeIT will provide WiFi, wired internet, power outlets (3 outlets per participant), office supplies, flip charts and catering. Participants need to bring their owndevices and chargers. 24H-CodeIT will provide some beds, towels and sheets, but participants will have to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows.

    8. To facilitate development, the organisation of 24H-CodeIT will supply you with INGs CommonAPI, which can be used as a source for your applications. With theCommonAPI, you can access REST endpoints for retrieving customer and product details and transactions, as well as making transfers (current accounts and savingsaccounts). The CommonAPI provides you with dummy data from three different ING banks: ING Direct Spain, ING Romania and the dummy bank ING Europe. You donot have to use the CommonAPI though. You are free to fill in the assignment as you please and let your creativity run wild by developing your own applications.Furthermore, 24H-CodeIT will provide WiFi, wired internet, power outlets (3 outlets per participant), office supplies and flip charts. Participants need to bring their owndevices and chargers. Support staff for the development environments will be on stand by.

    9. Participants who have access to ING environments (i.e. ING employees or those contracted by ING via a supplier/ZZP construction) are not allowed to use any ING dataor systems.

    10. 24H-CodeIT is not liable for damage to the participants properties or for participants violation of any intellectual property rights or other rights of a third party.

    Jury

    11. A panel of judges will select the winners of 24H-CodeIT. Each participant category has its own jury.

    Throughout the second day of the hackathon coaches will make a pre-selection of teams who may pitch their project in front of one of the 4 jurys. The coaches select 10teams from each participant category. All the selected teams (40 in total) have to deliver a pitch of their product as part of the selection procedure in English. Percategory, the jury will select the winning team eligible for a prize. The jury will judge on the following three criteria:1. Concept: what is the idea behind it?2. Functionality: does it work already/ how feasible is it?3. Impact: What is the impact? Is it convenient for only ten people or does it really change the way we are banking?

    Finally, the winners of each category pitch their idea to the main jury, who will announce the overall winner of 24H-CodeIT. Prizes cannot be exchanged.

    Publicity

    12. Participants authorise 24H-CodeIT and ING to film and take photos of the participants and the event. Participants explicitly renounce their portrait rights in relation tophotos and films taken during the event and grant ING the right to use these photos and film material for any publicity or promotional activities in any manner or media.Participants are free to use and share photos and films from the event.

    13. 24H-CodeIT will not provide any compensation for the time and effort spent during the event for the external developers and external, individual participants. INGemployees are allowed to book 8 hours.

    Indemnity and Intellectual property rightsIndemnity

    14. Participants guarantee that the ideas they present and the software they develop during the event does not infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties.Participants also guarantee that any (further) developments done on open source components will be done in accordance with the applicable open source licenseterms. Participants will indemnify ING against all third party claims for infringement of any intellectual property rights of that third party in relation to any ideaspresented or software developed during the event.

    Intellectual property rights15. With regards to the topic of the ownership of the intellectual property rights of any ideas presented and software developed during the event, 24H-CodeIT distinguishes

    between the three categories of participants.a. ING employees: intellectual property rights will remain and be vested with INGb. External developers/suppliers & vendors, namely:

    i. that are contracted directly by ING (e.g. ZZPers): the contractual agreements between you and ING are leadingii. that work for ING suppliers or vendors: the employment contract between you and your employer and the contractual agreements between ING and your

    employer will be leading;iii. Students: all intellectual property rights are retained by the participants or any other relevant party that is entitled thereto. ING does not claim any intellectual

    property rights on ideas or developments.

    First right of ING to acquire the rights on your idea16. ING has the first right to acquire the intellectual property rights of your ideas or developed software or to come to an agreement with you on further development. This

    means you agree, at the request of ING, to negotiate with ING on an exclusive basis to come to such agreement. INGs right to implement this right will lapse 2 weeksafter the end of the event.

    Privacy policy17. As part of registration, 24H-CodeIT collects relevant personal data that will be used to communicate with you before, during and after the event and that will be used to

    organise 22H-CodeIT. 24H-CodeIT will not share personal data with third parties, unless necessary for the event. 24H-CodeIT shall retain your data only for as long asnecessary with respect to the above described purposes.
