3. What is BIOL 2401?

  • This course is a study of the structure and function of the human body, emphasizing on the anatomy of organs and organ systems (integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous)
  • You will develop an understanding of these organ systems and their functions at a healthy state and at diseased states.

4. What to expect:

  • Lots of reading
  • New terminology
  • Lots of memorization, lots of detail
  • Regular quizzes
  • Organ dissection
  • A better understanding of how the body works and an appreciation of how all the organ systems work together to keep us alive

5. What to Expect From Me

  • I will respect you
  • I will not be your buddy
  • I will be considerate of you
  • I will try to get graded quizzes and exams back to you ASAP
  • I will make myself available to you as best as I can
  • I will not put you on the spot or embarrass you

  • Do not let yourself fall behind in class

  • No food or drinks during lab activities
  • Disruptive behavior is not tolerated
  • Clean up after yourselves

  • Go to PALS, print out grade sheet
  • Lecture Exams = 50%
  • Lab Exams = 25%
  • Quizzes = 10%
  • Final Exam = 10%
  • Participation = 5%
  • No make-ups given on missed exams & quizzes.Instead, I will drop your lowest grades at the end of the semester

  • Absences
    • You are allowedno more than 4 absences
    • Upon the 5 thabsence, you will be immediately dropped from the course
    • It is your responsibility to catch up with the class material that you miss
  • Tardiness
    • 3 tardy occurrences = 1 absence
    • Do not be disruptive
    • You may miss a quiz
