Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator; From your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gi of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened, give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O Heavenly Father, A clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gath-ered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our na on, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome —for the sake of our children, our grand-children, and all who come a er us—this great land will always be “one na on, under God, indivisible, with liberty and jus ce for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen At the present time our religious liberties are beingassaulted.Therightofthechurchtoactincivilsocietyisbeing eroded away. Stewardship Reflection: June 22, 2014

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) ~ Accordingto theCatechismof theCatholicChurch, “TheEucharist is the ‘source and summit of the Christianlife’.”(3:1324).Itcontinues,“…intheblessedEucharistiscontainedthewholespiritualgoodoftheChurch.”Thatiswhy on this Sunday after Holy Trinity Sunday wecelebrateCorpusChristi, theMostHolyBodyandBloodofChrist.Theword“Eucharist” indsitsrootsintheLatinworducharistia, whichinturncamefromtheGreekwordeucharistos, which meant, quite simply, “gratitude” or“thanksgiving.”Howappropriatethatwe, whoarecalledby Christ to be a stewardship people, celebrate at thefocalpointofeveryMassanactofthanksgivingandgrati-tude—namely the receptionof Jesus’ incredible gift tous — the Eucharist. The Lord proclaims in today’sGospel reading from John, “I am the living bread thatcame down from heaven.Whoever eats this bread willliveforever.”WhenwereceivetheLordinHisrealpres-ence at Mass, we should approach the Eucharist withrespect, humility, commitment, and love. These wordsalsoapplytohowweliveourlivesthroughstewardship. We are a Eucharistic people, grateful and giving. Inreceiving the Lord in all His fullness through theEucharist, we in turn are called to share that goodnessthroughlovewithallwemeet. Visitournewlyre-designedwebsite–
