NOTE FROM YOUR BOARD CHAIR
Beginning my responsibilities as the HOA Board Chair in the midst of the COVID -19 pandemic has added challenges to the role.
Our goal is to keep all of our residents and employees safe and healthy. We are adhering to the mandates of the LA Health Dept. Appendix A, and have complied with required postings and employee safety measures suppling masks, gloves and hand sanitizers. Through an Executive Emergency Session, our Board approved the return of the full time Employees. Within these guidelines, we must continue to keep our Clubhouse, Sports Center and Pools closed. The Golf Course is now open for our residents only, no guests, all golfers must wear a mask, maintain six-foot social distancing, wearing golf gloves is recommended and do not touch the rake or the flag poles. Also, please wear your resident badge for ease of identification.
The return of all our fulltime employees will allow us to begin to work on the non-emergency Work Requests. Please continue to submit work requests by email and in the Clubhouse mail-slot at the side of the billiard room.
We will have our Board Workshop and Board meetings teleconferenced to you and will continue this format throughout the year so more of our residents can see our Board in action. All the Board Chairs are reviewing their Charters and creating their committees. I am asking you to consider joining a committee to help each Chair. I am looking forward to working with the new Board and for all of you to make our community a safe and beautiful place to live.
Please remember to wear a mask when you are walking within our complex, maintain six feet of social distancing from each other and to wash your hands as frequently as possible.
Looking forward to everyone joining our next Board Workshop on May13th and our next Board meeting on May 20, 2020.
Thank you for your support and commitment to our community. Be Safe, we are all in this together.

OPENING RECREATIONAL AMENITIES
We opened the Golf Course per LA County guidelines. We had many infractions to the rules that were set up for the public’s safety. If rules are not adhered to, we will have to close the golf course.
NH Golf Course is open to Residents Only Please wear your NH badges while playing Our course is open as of Sat., May 9, 2020, with these La County restrictions:
1. Avoid Entering Any Area Of New Horizons If You Have A Cough Or Fever.
2. All persons must wear masks in public on New Horizons’ premises.
3. Golfers please wear a glove, and maintain social distancing.
4. Do not touch the flag pole or the rakes
Los Angeles is one of the counties that is keeping all facilities closed: "Fitness areas, including basketball and tennis courts, community or recreational rooms, swimming pools and jacuzzies must be closed to all occupants, staff and the public per the Health Officer Order." For this reason, our pools and other amenities must remain closed. A plan of action will have to be enacted in order to open our public areas safely. This will mean having them only open when we have staff on campus to disinfect properly per LA law guidelines.
GUIDANCE FOR MULTIFAMILY RESIDENCES. From LA County
• Encourage residents to call the management office or the front desk rather than coming in person, whenever possible. Maintain proper physical distance if residents need to speak with management or staff directly. Mark the proper distance away from the front desk staff to maintain physical distancing with tape or other signage. Consider installing a plexiglass barrier to protect staff. • Encourage staff and residents to adhere to the personal prevention actions which include wearing masks while in public, 6 ft. Social Distancing and washing all surfaces contact points.
The office staff is working very hard to keep up with phone calls, emails, and work requests. If your call goes
3
to voicemail, please leave a message and we will return your call.
With your cooperation, we will all get through this safely. By: The New Horizons’ Board
GLOVES OFF
We need to discuss proper etiquette for disposal of those blue, black, and white disposal gloves that are now littering our streets. The used/soiled gloves are potentially infected.
They seem to be popping up everywhere: from abandoned grocery shopping carts to parking lots, sidewalks and neighborhood lawns.
Please dispose of these properly. The next person cannot risk the infection by picking them up.
Use a little bit of kindness and thought as you maneuver around our community. We are all in this together and actions taken by you today, impact everyone.

THANKS for voting for me! I will work hard to make sure
each of you remain happy with the vote. The assignment I accepted was that of Architectural Chairman, please know that you are welcome to stop by and
bring your questions. First meeting will be June 3rd at 10:00 a.m.
During this last election, a 3-page flyer was distributed naming Gail Standley, the previous Board Chair, along with myself, Gerry Johnson, stating their mis-management over the last two years had cost the Association a considerable amount of money, resulting in increased condo fees. This is very disturbing, since it is untrue. It is my understanding that flyers mailed or circulated are to be used for campaigning of the person seeking election, not used to defame the character of a fellow Board Member. Thank You!
