Pollution is a rising problem in our world and it is starting to show its effects. Many people are often getting sick, some even die. Our bodies are slowly decaying from the inside. What happens if we don’t do something about this problem? How is this going to affect our lives in the future? These questions are being explored in “Rotten from the Inside”, through a collection of accessories. The collection was inspired by different kinds of masks - aviation, space, gas etc., and breathing devices. Part of the inspiration is also the original artwork for the movie Alien, the biomechanical aesthetic.I have explored this in my collection with the use of leather covered tubing, incorporating the utilitarian aspect of breathing devices. My accessories can be worn in different ways representing how pollution changes our body. It is still the same body, but there are parts of it that may change or fall off, depending on the strength of pollution in our lives.
