MANY THANKS for your generous Easter offerings; for your cards and gifts; and for all that you do for the life and fabric of the Cathedral.
Consultation On Parish Structures In The Leeds Area
Last October, I issued a DVD presentation which accompanied my Pastoral Letter, and which invited you to address a number of questions and considerations which face our parish structures in the city, and the environs of Leeds. I asked you to let me know your views by March 31st, and I am delighted to have received your counsel.
At this stage, I have taken a preliminary look at your submissions. It is immediately clear to me however, that many of you have entered into a process of collaborative discussion and debate as parish councils or other groups, in order to make your responses. I am very encouraged by your commitment to the process we have entered into.
I now need time to digest the observations, concerns, and suggestions you have put before me for my consideration and, at the same time, to reflect and pray about my response, in order to bring to you a plan for future pastoral structures in the area. Meanwhile, I wish first of all to thank you for your contribution so far and, secondly, to let you know that I hope to bring forward my proposal in the early part of the autumn. Please keep me in your prayers. Devotedly and with my blessing, Arthur Roche, Bishop of Leeds
JOURNEY INTO FAITH continues at 6.30pm next Thursday, 30th April
when we will be discussing
“Praying the Mass - Part Two”.
Good Shepherd Sunday: Next Sunday 3rd May, we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus Christ, as the Good Shepherd, entrusted this role of care and leadership to the apostles. This ministry continued today by the bishops, priests and deacons who are called to serve God and his people in a special way. We are invited to join the universal church in praying for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. To assist in the financing of those studying for the priesthood and to enable the work of appealing for vocations to continue, a second collection will be taken at all Masses next weekend for the Priest’s Training Fund.
THE RELICS OF ST THERESE OF LISIEUX will
be in the Cathedral from 3rd - 5th
October.
THE LADY CHAPEL It is hoped that the next phase of
refurbishment will start at the beginning of May. Thanks to
two generous donors, the wall paintings of the angels, either
side of the reredos, will be restored. During this time, the
Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in the Chapel of the
Sacred Heart.
TREASURES REVEALED IN LEEDS is a festival to
