Three men suffered frostbite. The Group encountered no enemy fighters, and fighter support was excellent. Only meager flak was reported in the target area. No bombs were dropped because the Combat Wing Leader's drop or his "bombs away" indication could not be seen. All bombs were brought back to Molesworth as there was no visible target of opportunity. Major Kirk R. Mitchell described the mission by saying, "There wasn't much to it. I didn't see the 50 bursts of flak and absolutely no fighters. But, I never have seen so many airplanes over the target at one time. We got caught in a squeeze between two other Groups and only two or three ships got a chance to drop their bombs.” 23 December 1943 - Air-Sea Rescue Mission Lt. F.C. Major Herbert E. Kalhoefer flew as co-pilot with 2Lt. H.E. Bolsover in 359BS #42-5306 (No Name) leading the second element of the 359BS lead formation. Therewere no abortives and no losses. Three men suffered frostbite.
