BA (Hons) in Digital Integrated & Immersive Multimedia(KPT/JPS (KA6443) 10/10)
The programme is designed to meet the needs foradvanced multimedia training and education in thenew fields of immersive technology and augmentedreality. Virtual Reality (VR) is an environment that issimulated by a computer. Most virtual reality envi-ronments are primarily visual experiences, displayedeither on a computer screen or through specialstereoscopic displays, but some simulations includeadditional sensory information, such as sound throughspeakers or headphones. Some advanced and experi-mental systems have included limited tactile feedback. This interactive technology has the potential to beused by architects, science and engineering researchers, medical training, the military, and the arts, entertainmentand video games industry. Immersive technologiesand virtual reality are powerful and compellingcomputer applications by which humans can interfaceand interact with computer generated environmentsin a way that mimics real life sense engagement. As3D and immersive technology becomes more inte-grated and available for a wide range of applications. Itrequires welldesigned user interfaces and innovative
content for the next generation of computer gamesand integrated technology like mobile devices, dis-tributed web systems and desktop applications.Virtual reality will eventually be integrated into dailylife and activity and will be used in very human ways.As we spend more and more time in virtual space, there will be a gradual “migration to virtual space,”resulting in important changes in economics, world-view, and culture. The design of virtual environmentsmay be used to extend basic human rights into virtualspace. This programme focuses largely on interactive3D environments in real and virtual spaces touchingon subjects such as Augmented Reality, 3D VirtualEnvironments and 3D Visualisation Techniques forproduction, manufacturing and conceptual art.
