WE LOVE AND MISS YOU WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS!Sadly missed by Brother Ron, Patti, Karen, Terri, Joey and our entire family!
In MemoriamTo our dearest Father,
Joseph S. Cervola Jr.
So many things are different now, having changed with the times. In honor of your memory, I will always develep the sincerest of rhymes.
You worked hard to get yourself back to being healthy and strong. We had no way of knowing you wouldn’t be with us for long.
You are now eternally with your wife, and that brings us such joy.I hope that you are proud of me, Dad, as I raise my own boy.
In all of your years, hunting was forever your favorite season.Life changing events happen in which we don’t know the reason.
This has been an especially difficult year.More than ever, Dad, I just wish you were still here.
It has been three years since you left us, we all still wonder why.The Lord chose that specific day for your last wave goodbye.

“AMERICAN CORN” AT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
On Monday, February 24, at 7 p.m., the Evans Historical Society will present local author, Ted Ma-linowski, and his recently published book, American Corn. Mr. Malinowski, a life long resident of Evans, will share stories about growing up with parents that represented the “Greatest Generation”. The book is a collection of short stories showing how his parents instilled good values in the family, including hones-ty, faith, integrity, loyalty and love. According to Joseph Pisarski, President of the so-ciety, the book is a reflection of the fine values that Americans embraced many years ago. The public is invited to this free program, and books will be available for purchase. The presenta-tion will be held at the Town of Evans Historical So-ciety Museum (old brick school house) on Route 5 in Evans Center. Refreshments will be served.

OZ DAY AT THE LIBRARY The Angola Public Library recently hosted “Take Your Child to the Library Day”. This event has been held in various libraries throughout the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System to encourage parents and their children to visit the library and become familiar with the many services that libraries offer. As a trib-ute to the artistry of L. Frank Baum the theme for the day was the Wizard of Oz. The Angola Library was bedecked with flying monkeys over the circulation desk and pictures of familiar Oz characters. Several fun ac-tivities were offered for the children. Coloring sheets and crayons were provided for them to help add to the “Oz” decorations. Games included Wizard of Oz Trivia and a “Save Toto” tossing game. Supplies and instruc-tion were also offered to make a crown like Glinda, the good witch. Pictured: Shelby Harris, Library Page; Lilly Klubek, age 5; Elliemay Klubek, age 6

Teachers, Erica Aikin, Jennifer Hill and Ann Marie Busha all had the opportunity to attend a science workshop sponsored by Cornell Uni-versity. Pictured: Grade 4 student Greg Jones explor-ing the "Animal Tooth Kit." This particular kit allowed each student to observe and inspect teeth and jaws from different animals.

LANDFORM FUN AT J.T. WAUGH Students in Miss Clark’s class at John T. Waugh Elementary School learned about different types of landforms. Students learned to identify landforms from around the world and their characteristics. As a result of their learning experiences, students used hands on materials to create a landform poster displaying vari-ous landforms including mountains, hills, rivers, vol-canoes, and more! Students then labeled and described each landform. The students really enjoyed the land-form learning activities. Pictured left to right: Back: Andrew Jacchino, Shatan Mohawk, Robbie Pfalzgraf, and Lauren Rutter. ST. FRANCIS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTIONS HELD
Thirty-two students were inducted into the Dr. Leo Michalek, Sr. Chapter of the St. Francis High School National Honor Society at the 47th annual induction ceremony held in Ormsby Theatre of Alumni Hall on Friday, January 17, 2014. Fr. Michael Sajda, Presi-dent of St. Francis High School, presided at the induc-tion ceremony which was part of a Eucharistic Liturgy attended by the student body and parents of the new inductees. Members of the late Dr. Michalek’s family joined Fr. Michael in the formal induction ceremonies. Election to membership in the National Honor Soci-ety represents the highest honor and trust that can be bestowed upon a student in the junior or senior year of high school. The National Honor Society recognizes students for outstanding scholarship, character, lead-ership, and service. Membership in NHS is indicative that the student has attained and continues to demon-strate and promote all of these qualities, and continu-ally strives to improve conditions at St. Francis High School and in the larger community. Two of the new inductee’s from the Class of 2015 were Richard Grant of Derby (son of Dr.Michael Grant and Robin Burke) and Andrew Phillips of Angola (son of William and Gail Phillips).

SOUTHTOWNS CATHOLIC SCHOOLLIP SYNC CONTEST
SCS loves Catholic Schools Week! This year, they held their first ever Lip Sync Contest. Kids put together teams, made props and practiced for their debut on the stage. All the students did an amazing job. The winners of the Lip Sync contest were Lake View resident Mia Mahar and Angola resident Melissa Pfeffer. They lip synced to "Let it Go" from the Walt Disney movie Fro-zen. The girls both dressed as Elsa and used long pieces of white tissue paper to throw "ice".

SNOWFLAKES FOR SANDY HOOK Lake Shore Middle School continues to show just how much “heart” its students and teachers have. In remem-brance of the tragic events that occurred at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in December of 2012, we all got together to show our support for those touched by the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut. The students at the middle school made snowflakes to decorate the windows of the Middle school and to share a positive message. The north facing windows of the middle school are now decorated with the snowflakes to spell out “We Remem-ber Newtown”. It’s really a beautiful sight for anyone driving by. It’s just a friendly reminder that Sandy Hook and the children and teachers lost on that day, are NOT forgotten.

SOUTHTOWNS CATHOLIC SCHOOL OBSERVES MATTER
Mrs. Jennifer Hill's second grade had the opportunity to observe matter in a fun way! They did a chocolate investigation that allowed each student to observe the changing states of matter. They took a plastic bag and added solid chocolate chips. Then they documented what happened as they did different things to the bag and watched all the chips melt into a liquid. Pictured are Angola resident Grace Crupe, Lake View Emma Labby, Hamburg Kaylee Dodson, Hamburg resident Alex Davis and Lake View resident Luke Rybczynski demonstrat-ing chocolate as a liquid.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB FEBRUARY MEMBERS OF THE MONTH
The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Shore is proud to announce Tyler Mitchell, Angelina Cosenza, and Janel Cosenza as February’s Members of the Month (MOTM). Every month Club Staff deliberate and choose members that are trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, car-ing, and good citizens at the Club. In addition to having positive character values, the MOTM should participate in a variety of the programs offered at the Club such as sports and games, arts and crafts, Power Hour and Project Learn, Cooking Club, Experiment Club, etc. Tyler is in Mrs. Kauzala’s fourth grade class at A.J. Schmidt Elementary. Tyler’s favorite subject in school is math because he feels that it is easier than E.L.A. Tyler enjoys collecting money that he finds and reading books from the Military Series. When Max is at the Club, he enjoys playing with his friends. Tyler’s cheeks are always red while he is at the Club because he is always playing hard in the gym. Angelina is in third grade at John T. Waugh Elemen-tary. Mrs. Amoia is her teacher and science is her fa-vorite subject. Angelina loves to eat pizza and her fa-vorite color is lime green. Angelina participates in many of the Club’s programs such as Cooking Club, Minute to Win It in the games room, and the Club’s Daily Chal-lenges. She likes coming to the Club because she likes meeting new friends. Angelina is always respectful of members and staff at the Club and always participates in new activities to try them out. Janel is a fifth grader in Mrs. Preischel’s class at John T. Waugh Elementary. She likes math because her teacher is fun and she gets candy in class. Janel’s favorite food is macaroni and cheese and her favorite color is baby blue. If Janel could change anything about going to school, she would make the dress code pajamas everyday of the week! While at the Club, Janel likes to play with her friends and do art projects with Mrs. Mickey. Also pictured with the Members of the Month is the Club’s Student of the month, Brianna Morrissey. Brian-na was chosen to be the Student of the Month because of her dedication to her school work, for completing ex-tra Project Learn activities. Brianna earned over 100 Power Hour points this marking period! Brianna is in fourth grade at A.J. Schmidt Elemen-tary. She is in Mrs. Gizzi’s class and enjoys doing long division.
