<achiEvEmEnts<EDT, a national engineering competition. A scheme based on real design engineering projects with companies. From this I developed technical engineering skills, problem solving, communication and Project management. To which we presented our project formally going on to win all 3 categories: best Presentation, report and overall project.<In coherence, a Gold Crest award from the British Science Association.<RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Award. A week long course oriented around leadership and problem Solving. Where I went on to receive a distinction award for out standing leadership, team building and Problem solving.

My names Kieran and I’m a design student. This is my Portfolio of work.

Some consider good designers to be people who go out and experience life, this is a thing I am asking for now. An experience at your company for me to better my self as a designer. I belive design is not a practice but a constant learning curve we are all on and I am asking you to be part of my learning curve to make for me trying to become that better designer

During our day there are may points that peoples behavior are not ones to be desired. For example general politeness is often disregarded. ‘Rewarders’ is a scheme aiming to change peoples behavior by injecting the element of fun.The thinking behind Rewarders is about reassessing the current use of discipline. Then turning it upside-down, giving gratification and rewards to good behaviour.

reWarDers

InsightUsing observation to make key insights.

A buffer between people. People have an impression of no one wants to talk, but in reality they don’t mind at all.

Peoples bubbles. The amount of people you pass in a city makes people create a bubble around them selves. Changing this environment (out of the centre city) seems to become much easier to have small interactions with.

Mood effects politeness.Mood Marjory effects the politeness and consideration of people, if someone seemed angry they were much harder to approach which then meant it was much harder to have small interactions with.

People forget.More often than not some people will be very nice! But they can seem very impolite as they forget about it because they simply don’t realise.

Sympathy politeness.I found politeness and consideration was given out to those who people found sympathy for.

Sense of community. This makes it much easier for people to interact as the seem to value a hello much more.

Hi Margret!

Heyy

Sad. Can’t be bothered. One track mind. Happy.

I love people!

#1 R

ROne example of Rewarders, postie Pete is part of Rewarders, and one of his good things to do that day is to complement some one during his day. On his run of the morning he decides to compliment Ellen on her fantastic wreath she has put on her front door. This interested Ellen why she got this written on her post and goes on to look up Rewarders, and as it happens decides to join up to, receiving a starter pack Pete delivers from Rewarders.

#2This concept is based more around fun. It is again just one of many ways people could incorporate this into their lives. The scene is some one has parked their car perfectly; it is evenly spaced and considerate to other drivers. So Alan the traffic Worden (also a Rewarders member) by giving a dumpy parking ticket, acknowledging that they have parked great. This is a huge element of surprise as the driver is expecting a parking fine, making it a fun experience.

starter pacKRewarders Stamp - a way for the new starters to identify and brand their complement contributions

Rewarders cards - two sets. One to promote the act of complements by providing an easy platform people can share them. Then also Invitations for people to join Rewarders

Ink pad

Introductory letters - these letters provide a friendly helpful introduction to Rewarders giving them the knowledge they need to know to get started, then also the three key factors of what Rewarders is about; consideration, understanding and having fun.

YORK ONCOLOGYDATA, LOGISTICS & EFFICIANCY

Yorks Oncology department has recently taken on a large fall of area to cover. With statistics of Cancer patients increasing by 30% every year then it is necessary to try and think about how we can handle the large flow of patients.

With in mind the idea of an increase of patients we can predict this will induce an increase of data, so my group and I decided to work on the data and logistics of the York Oncology department.

This is an area we thought could be a crucial focal point the department lacks in with the increase of patients.

Taking some of the care away from the hospital and providing an after care support service.

Providing a more efficient way of providing data to a patient through a consultant lead FAQ and live chat data base

This concept composed of taking some of the care away from the hospital and providing an after care support service.

Providing a on hand system to check general pescriptions, appointments or care plans at a convinent place like a ATM in the public domain.

Chemotheropy patients have to complete a blood test to ensure they are capiable to go through the chemo sessions, this means going back and forth from the hospitail. So we thought to taking this to the home of the patient instead.

Based on the consideration of senses.

A child’s perspective: one of the best to look upon when designing. A perspective unspoilt by harsh influences of our world.

Motion, smell the intuitiveness of water, perpetual sound and manipulation of light create a sensory adventure to which is the river.

My proposal is to encourage this interaction with the river though “Tools for Discovering”; an installation provided by local authorities/companies to the public, composed from six factors that could be expanded still. Consisting of the encouragement of adventure, FUN and play, the idea of omentashi to entertain the guests wholeheartedly. The nature of intuition encourages the user to interact instinctively with various elements

This was short listed for the competition.
