In the week leading up to the European Film Awards (7 December 2013), EBUMembers - Europe's public service broadcasters - will showcase feature-length films onpublic television and online platforms. "Cinema Concerto" was a radio programme on the air every Saturday morning on RAI Radio Nazionale (now Radio1) in spring 1975. The first episode was broadcast on 4 April 1975, hosted, like the following four episodes, by the Italian actressMita Medici and film critic Guglielmo Biraghi. The talented composer and conductor Piero Piccioni conducted the Orchestra di Musica Leggera di Radio Roma,performing famous international film scores and a few of his best compositions for film. Many Italian film directors, such as Franesco Rosi, Elio Petri, Alberto Lattuada, Luchino Visconti, BernardoBertolucci, Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio de Sica and Dino Risi, commissioned Piero Piccioni to score thesoundtracks for their films.

Rocco Pandiani's DJ Set

Right Tempo Right Tempo was established by Rocco Pandiani in 1993. The aim was to release music composed and producedin Italy. The original message was simple and effective: to promote and produce uncompromised music of variousgenres, attitudes and influences. In 1995, Right Tempo was the first Italian label to gain international recognitionfor promoting a distinctive Italian blend of music known at the time as Acid Jazz. In that same year, Easy Temposeries delivers world wide a catalogue of original Italian soundtracks. In particular, Piero Umiliani’s soundtracks, who was Pandiani’s friend and mentor, achieved international success.The Right Tempo catalogue of Umiliani’s music has enriched through the years with new releases ofsonorizations, jazz collections, remixes and anthologies. Thanks to the patient work of research and re-masterization, these albums today belong to the collective culture of Italian music and are appreciated and soughtafter all over the world.

The title of this podcast is derived from the famous Polish TV series 'Polskie Drogi' back from 1970, but I'vechosen the word 'ways' instead of the original 'paths' because it better describes the idea of how Polishcomposers and musicians fought the dull, grey communist ideology with their music. It's the story of bringingWestern sounds and grooves into the Polish way of life (for example the theme from the TV series 'Zycie nagoraco' sounds like a part of a James Bond movie soundtrack), and how Polish movie and TV music tried toescape from the overwhelming and sad reality. Most of this podcast is based on well known Polish TV series' themes from the 1970s, but it also includes partsof famous Andrzej Korzynski score from the film 'Czowiek z marmuru' by Andrzej Wajda, songs from children'smovie 'Akademia Pana Kleksa', and two classic protest songs from the polish cult bands Maanam and Kryzys. Enjoy this laid back, sentimental trip to the past of Polish TV and cinema music.

Soloist: Norbert 'Bert' Borzym, DJBert (Norbert Borzym) DJ, producer, remixer and journalist - he runs a Kluboteka radioshow for Czworka Polskie Radio. Member of Last Robots and Boogie Mafia. Bert appeared on the Warsaw club scene at the end of the 1990's, first as part of thebreakbeat collective Boogie Mafia, then as a resident of the cult club Piekarnia. Hewas also a radio DJ at the Radiostacja in its historic moment and since 2006 he'sbeen with Radio Bis, later Radio Euro and now Czworka Polskie Radio. As ajournalist, he has published reviews and articles in Techno Party, Lajf and Dziennik.There is probably not a self-respecting club in Poland he has not visited over the years– including such powerhouses as Sopot's Sfinks, Poznań's SQ and Białystok's Metro.Bert has also had the chance to share the decks with over a hundred top internationalDJs, including household names - Jacques Lu Count, Marshall Jefferson and RogerSanchez. He's also judged many local DJing talent contests including Nokia DJ’s Cupand Heineken Thirst and Absolut Hear Me;; he also taught young DJs at Coke LiveFresh Noise. It was also Bert who came up with the idea and organised the young DJs cup'Pierwsze Koty' in Piekarnia. The series proved a real goldmine, unveiling the talent ofmany younger generation DJs who now rock Warsaw's clubs.
