In2016&2017KiwanisHomesInc.conductedanextensivestakeholderconsultationduringwhichwespokewithover400residents,neighboursandfundingpartners.ThefeedbackwereceivedthroughthisconsultationprocesswaskeyinassistingourorganizationtocreateanewVision,Mission&Valuesanddevelopanewstrategicdirectionfortheorganizationforthefuture.OurVision: TobetheaffordablehousingproviderofchoiceforthegreaterHamiltonandsurroundingarea

Thetwoapartmentbuildingslocatedat21&71SanfordAve.N.consistof157apartmentunits.Builtin1991,thesetwobuildingsarethelargestmulti‐unitapartmentbuildingscurrentlyoperatedbyKiwanisHomesInc.Overthenext18monthperiodKiwanisHomesInc.willworkwithourresidents,fundingpartnersandcontractorstocompleteasubstantiverenewalofthesebuildings.Theinitialphaseoftheprojectwillentailaninvestmentofinexcessof$2million.Afutureplannedsecondphasewillinfuseanadditional$2millionrepresentingacumulative$4millioninvestmentinthiscommunity.Whatarethecomponentsofthistransformation:

ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Employee Donations Fund is pleased to partner with Hamilton East Kiwanis Non-Profit Homes Inc. to support the renewal of the playground at 21 Sanford Ave. N. We are excited to help provide a fun and safe place for community children to play, including adding accessible equipment for children with disabilities. Over 70-plus years, the Employee Donations Fund has raised more than $40 million through

voluntary payroll deductions to benefit organizations doing important work in the Hamilton, Burlington and Niagara areas. Formed and managed by an elected committee of employees, the fund supports organizations

including local food banks, health and social services, and children’s programs.

Through Kiwanis’ unwavering 35 year commitment to addressing the housing and community needs of low income Hamiltonians, it supports the City’s vision “to be the best place to raise a child and age successfully”

and has become an vital partner in building a strong a sustainable housing system.”

The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton is delighted to be partnering with our neighbor Kiwanis Homes to enhance the playground that serves as an important community gathering place. The use of this playground has also been a key feature of our Family Visit program allowing parents

to interact with their children in an outdoor setting.

We look forward to the completion of this important project that will benefit all of the community members.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, which is an agency of the Government of Ontario, is proud have been asked to administer the Ontario150 Community Capital grant program for the province.

This one-time, Ontario150 Community Capital grant program has been designed to help honour the province’s past, showcase the present and inspire future generations.
