Welcome to WestminsterWhether you are worshiping at Westminster for the first time or returning for a visit,

we sincerely welcome you in the name of Christ!

Following our worship service, we invite you to meet today’s “ambassadors,” Ellie and Don Furry, at the back of the sanctuary. OPENING WORDSBaptism is one of God’s marvelous blessings.

As children of the living God, we give thanks that Barrett is becoming a part of the world-wide Christian Church.

In baptism, we begin a new life in Christ, we unite with the people of God, we are cleansed from sin,

and we are given hope in a resurrection to everlasting life.

QUESTIONS FOR PARENTS AND THE CONGREGATION

Do you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? We do.

Relying on God’s grace, do you promise to live the Christian faithand to teach that faith to your son? We do.

Will we, the people of the church, promise to nurture and support Barrett and his parents, and will we encourage him to become a faithful Christian? We will.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We believe that in baptism the Spirit demonstrates and confirms God’s promise to include us, and our children, in the divine covenant, cleansing us from sin, and giving us newness of life, as participants in Christ’s death and resurrection. Baptism sets us in the invisible community of Christ’s people and joins us to all other believers by a powerful bond. A Declaration of Faith

Adult Education Classes This Morning, 10:10 – 11:00 a.m.

Bible Study on Romans (through March 28) in Classroom 6Greg Jones will teach this class on Paul’s Letter to the Romans, which is widely acclaimed as Paul’s masterpiece. Today, Dr. Jones will summarize the first five chapters which he taught in the fall. You will learn why Paul wrote this letter, how he resolved the dilemma of whether God had abandoned the Jews in favor of Christians and how this letter impacts our lives today. Everyone is welcome to join this class.

Senior Living – Local Guest Speakers (this morning and February 28) in Meeting RoomThis morning, a panel of two WPC physicians, Brud Bacon, MD and Bob Frelick, MD, and a member attorney, Fred Iobst, Esq., will discuss medical and legal issues for seniors, improving communications with your doctor, advanced directives, living wills, and medical powers of attorneys. To celebrate Heart Month and Valentine’s Day, we plan to have RN’s on duty at the Holy Toast Café to take blood pressures. See page 14 for details on the February 28th session.

Hope for the Future: Christian-Muslim Dialogue, (through March 14) in Rodney ChapelUsing Eboo Patel’s book Acts of Faith as a springboard, Presbyterian pastor Tom Davis will lead a discussion on the importance of interfaith dialogue, particularly among our youth. After 9/11 Eboo Patel realized that the hijackers were young Muslim men from middle class families who had been indoctrinated by Muslim fundamentalists with a terrorist agenda. Out of his own convictions that we must be proactive to counter such deception, Patel founded the Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) in his hometown of Chicago. IFYC now has chapters across the country and initiates work projects around the world. This class will also feature guest speakers including local high school students working on starting an IFYC in Wilmington, and Muslim students from the Rumi Forum at the University of Delaware.

Paul's Hymn to Love – 1 Corinthians 13 Join us in Daughtry House to explore this familiar and much loved passage as Dr. Kenneth E. Bailey provides new insights and understanding as he explains these words as they would have been understood by first century individuals living in the Middle East.

Sanctuary Flowers - Consider giving the sanctuary flowers for Sunday worship. Your gift of God’s natural beauty to remember or honor loved ones, or to celebrate an event, expresses praise and thanksgiving to God. Please contact Linda Watson during business hours at 302-571-6719 or [email protected]. Available dates for flowers are February 28, April 11 and 18.

Are you wearing a nametag? Whether you are a longtime member or new to the church, wearing a nametag provides others the opportunity to meet you, greet you by name, and for you to become more familiar with others at church. Nametags and markers are in baskets at all major entrances. Extend hospitality and friendship by wearing a nametag every Sunday.
