15 Description of Equipment or Protective System

The Model 2088/2090 Smart Pressure Transmitter comprises of a 2088/2090 sensor module andan aluminium or stainless steel enclosure of approximately 75 mm diameter by up to 130 mm long.The enclosure is fitted with two removable screwed covers with nitrile or EPDM rubber '0' ringsproviding effective sealing equivalent to 1P66. One end cover can be replaced by an LCD meter unitwith a 9.53 mm thick glass window. The enclosure has previously been used on category IGDequipment covered by certificate BAS99ATEXI222.

The 2088/2090 sensor module screws into a threaded entry on the enclosure and maintains the IPrating of the enclosure by means of an '0' ring on the module. Electrical connection between themodule and the circuitry within the enclosure is achieved by flexible cable.

Electrical connection to the apparatus is by glanded cable entry which must maintain the IF ratingof the enclosure. The terminals are accessible by removing one of the end covers.

17 Special Conditions For Safe Use

1 The user must ensure that the maximum rated voltage and current (36 volts, 24 milliamps,d.c.) are not exceeded. All connections to other apparatus or associated apparatus shall havecontrol over this voltage and current equivalent to a category 'ib' circuit according toEN 50020.

2 Cable entries must be used which maintain the ingress protection of the enclosure to at least1P66.

3 Unused cable entries must be filled with suitable blanking plugs which maintain the ingressprotection of the enclosure to at least IP66.

4. Cable entries and blanking plugs must be suitable for the ambient range of the apparatus andcapable of withstanding a 7J impact test.

The 2088/2090 sensor module must be securely screwed in place to maintain the ingressprotection of the enclosure.

18 Essential Health and Safety Requirements

None that are not covered by assessment against Harmonised Standard EN 50281-1-1: 1998.
