When we turned off the lights and locked the

doors of the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center

in March 2020, the uncertainty felt throughout the

performing arts industry was overwhelming. Closing

for an undetermined length of time – especially at the

height of a thriving, successful theater season – was

not what anyone had hoped for the facility. It was a dark day, indeed.

However, there was always a light to help us find our way, and it came in the form of

our devoted patrons. Notes of encouragement via email and phone calls from guests

who insisted on donating the amount paid for their tickets rather than receiving

a credit or a refund bolstered our hope for the future and reminded us that the

performances and events we offer make a substantial impact on our community

at large. As restrictions continued to loosen, more and more patrons reached

out inquiring about shows and the Broadway season, which added even more

momentum to our re-opening efforts.

Now, as we begin to host events once again, we are pleased to note that we practice

enhanced cleaning procedures throughout the building. Additionally, we offer

contactless payment at our concession stand and we encourage the use of e-tickets

whenever possible. We will strive to do all that we are able to ensure an environment

that is safe for guests as we return to a full schedule of shows and events.

In January 2022, we will continue the tradition of Broadway at the LPAC! This

endeavor has been made possible by our new partnership with MNM Theatre

Company and North End Theater Company, wherein we are all dedicated to

presenting high quality musical theatre starring award winning actors from South

Florida and across the nation.

The City of Lauderhill is thrilled to be presenting a Broadway lineup once again!

Events at the LPAC will be fun, well-produced, safe and enjoyable, and we can’t wait

to see you back – filling the seats with the energy and enthusiasm that only comes

from a shared experience. We thank you for your taking interest in our theater and

we hope that you’ll join us for this leg of our ongoing journey.

WELCOME TO BROADWAYAT LPAC 2022 SEASON!

Here is Rydell High’s senior class of

1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burg-

er Palace Boys” and their gum-smack-

ing, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in

bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking

the look and sound of the 1950s in

this rollicking musical. Head “greaser”

Danny Zuko and new (good) girl San-

dy Dumbrowski try to relive the high

romance of their “Summer Nights”

as the rest of the gang sings and

dances its way through such songs

as “Grease”, “Hopelessly Devoted To

You”, “Sandy”, and “You’re The One

That I Want”’, “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s

Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone

at the Drive-In Movie”, recalling the

music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard,

and Elvis Presley that became the

soundtrack of a generation. An

eight-year run on Broadway and

two subsequent revivals, along with

innumerable school and community

productions place Grease among the

world’s most popular musicals.

Grease debuted Off-Broadway in

February 1972 at the Eden Theatre in

New York City. The show then trans-

ferred to different theaters before

closing on April 30th, 1980 after a

record breaking 3,388 performances.

Sister Act is the feel-good musical

comedy smash based on the hit 1992

film that will have audiences jumping

to their feet! Featuring original music

by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Men-

ken, this uplifting musical was nomi-

nated for five Tony Awards, including

Best Musical. When disco diva Delo-

ris Van Cartier witnesses a murder,

she is put in witness protection at a

convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds

herself at odds with the rigid lifestyle.

Using her singing talent to inspire

the choir, Deloris breathes new life

into the church and community but

in doing so blows her cover. Soon the

gang is giving chase, only to find them

up against Deloris and the power of

her newly found sisterhood. Filled

with powerful gospel music, outra-

geous dancing and a truly moving

story, Sister Act will leave audiences

breathless. A sparkling tribute to the

universal power of friendship, Sister

Act is reason to REJOICE!

Considered by many to be the perfect

musical comedy, Guys and Dolls

ran for 1,200 performances when it

opened on Broadway in 1950. It re-

ceived nearly unanimous positive re-

views from critics and won a bevy of

awards, including Tony Awards, Dra-

ma Desks and Oliviers. Frequently

revived, the show has been done with

numerous all-star casts, including

productions/concerts featuring Ewan

McGregor, Jane Krakowski, Brian

Stokes Mitchell and Jessica Biel.

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical

New York City, Guys and Dolls is an

oddball romantic comedy: Gambler

Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash

to set up the biggest craps game in

town while the authorities breathe

down his neck. Meanwhile his

girlfriend and nightclub performer

Adelaide laments that they have been

engaged for fourteen years. Nathan

turns to fellow gambler, Sky Master-

son, for the dough, and Sky ends up

chasing the strait-laced missionary

Sarah Brown as a result. Guys and

Dolls takes us from the heart of Times

Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba,

and even into the sewers of New York

City, but eventually, everyone ends up

right where they belong. Frank Loess-

er’s brassy, immortal score makes

Guys and Dolls a crowd-pleaser.
