Welcome from the chair

Aloha!

I’m delighted to invite you to join your colleagues on the beach! On behalf of the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) Education Programs Division, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa on the beautiful island of Kauai on November 1-5 for the CSA 2021 Fall Anesthesia Conference. The past year has been an extraordinary challenge for all of us. We have planned a great program on one of the most beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands and we hope to see you there!

The program is designed for all anesthesia practitioners, covering topics of relevance, but with a special focus on current topics of importance. These of course also include some of our lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our panel of engaging internationally known experts, will update you on the latest topics in anesthesia and perioperative medicine, but with a keen eye on topics of current relevance to all of us. The format will include lectures, problem-based learning discussions, and panel discussions. Key topics include obstetric anesthesia, management of problems in pediatric anesthesia, a panel discussion on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our specialty, awareness under anesthesia, quality and safety, and important updates on health policies affecting all of us. CSA programs have built a reputation for providing top level experts in their fields, and this meeting will be no different, bringing interactivity and providing practical advice to all attendees.

The meeting will be held at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa on Poipu Beach, a premier destination in Kauai. The conference is designed to maximize your enjoyment of Hawaii, with sessions only in the morning, leaving the afternoons free for exploring or lounging by the pool. Kauai is known for its lush tropical setting and white sand beaches. Activities include golf, tennis, snorkeling, hiking, sailing, and sightseeing. The weather in October is ideal with temperatures in the high 70’s.

Please plan to join us for an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to see you!

Mahalo,

Michael Gropper, MD, PhD.
