TRAVELLING BY ROAD FROM THE SOUTH: Leave the M6 at Junction 32 (Broughton, Preston), the junction incorporates the M6 and M55 motorways and the A6 trunk road. Care should be taken to filter left following the ‘A6 Garstang’ lane indicators. On joining the A6, follow the ‘Garstang’ signs for 3¾ miles to a large sign on the left hand side of the road naming ‘Myerscough College’ (the show is clearly sign posted from this point), turn left along St Michaels Road, continue along this road for approx. 2 miles then turn into Pinfold Lane.

TRAVELLING BY ROAD FROM THE NORTH: Leave the M6 at Junction 33 (Hampson Green). On joining the A6 travel south following ‘Preston’ signs for about 9 miles to a large sign on the left hand side of the road, naming ‘Myerscough College’, and turn right into St Michaels Road. Continue along this road for approx. 2 miles then turn into Pinfold Lane.

TRAVELLING BY ROAD FROM M55 & BLACKPOOL: Take Junction 3 off the M55 towards Fleetwood (Fleetwood Road A585) then turn right onto A586/Garstang Road towards St. Michael's (the show is clearly sign posted from this point).

There is ample car parking, please ensure you follow the instructions of the car park staff who will ensure you are parked swiftly and safely.

It is in your interest to allow yourself plenty of time for your journey, particularly on Friday

To be fast-tracked into this area, you will need to apply for a Fast-Tracking Disabled Drivers label issued by the Society, by paying for a Disabled Car Parking Pass with your entry and enclosing a photocopy of both sides of your current Official Disabled Drivers Badge. Failure to comply with this request will result in you receiving a general car park pass.SPECIAL NOTE FOR ALL DISABLED DRIVERS (EXHIBITORS): As we operate a colour-coded system for our car parks, if you do not apply for a disabled colour-coded pass which will reserve you a space in our specially reserved Disabled Parking lot, you will be directed to the 5 disabled spaces on our general car park, when all these disabled spaces are full, we will try to get you as near as possible as we can. BANK CHARGESExhibitors are asked to note that cheques (and credit card payments) sent to cover entry fees MUST be in order for IMMEDIATE PAYMENT. Those which are not for any reason whatsoever, including technical irregularities, will NOT be accepted and the entry therewith will be returned. Many Societies are now incurring substantial bank charges as a result of incorrectly completed or dishonoured cheques forwarded as payment for Show fees; therefore we will levy a surcharge of £20.00 per transaction on top of the amount outstanding to any exhibitor whose cheque is returned to us by the Bank. RULES and REGULATIONS 1. Opening of Show: The Show will open at 7.00 am each day. 2. Receipt of Dogs: Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when

required. 3. Judging Time: All judging will commence at 9.00 am prompt each day. 4. Removal of Exhibits and Close of Show: Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. Exhibits may not be

removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed at which time dogs must be removed.

5. Entry Fees: The following entry fees are payable and include VAT: Breeds with Challenge Certificates on offer: First entry per dog £27.00. Breeds without Challenge Certificates on offer/AVNSC/Imported Breed Register: First Entry per dog £14.00. Each subsequent entry with the same dog Iincluding ALL Stakes): £5.00. First Entry in Stakes Classes/AV Rare Breeds: £14.00. KC Breeders' Competition: £15.00 per team. Not for Competition: £14.00 per dog. Catalogues: £5.00 pre-paid with entry (£6.00 on the day). 6. Prize Money: Prize Money is on offer at this Show as stated in the classification. Prize Money must be claimed on the day. 7. Refusal of Entries: The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries and admittance to the showground. 8. Puppies: Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 9. Mating of Bitches: The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 10. Best Puppy in Show: Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and has

been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

a. Shows Judged on the Group System (Definition; Shows judged on Group System - Refer to Regulation F.(1).26b.) 1) Best Puppy in Breed: A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes. A Best Puppy must be declared from the Any Variety Not Separately classified class(es). A Best Puppy must be declared from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register class(es). 2) Best Puppy in Group: Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Puppy Group placings must be selected from:- a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed. b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day. c) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register classes in each group or on each day. 3) Best Puppy in Show: Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners. 11. Best in Show: The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and has been declared Best of Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately

Classified or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register. a. Shows Judged on the Group System 1) Best of Breed: Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a first

prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared. NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register award relevant to a Category

3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon. 2) Best of Group: Best of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed winners in each group.

b) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or on each day. c) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Imported Breed Register class or classes in each Group or on each day. NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register from a

breed designated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competition unless it has passed an examination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

3) Best in Show: Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

12. Admission to Best In Show: Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13. Handling of Dogs: Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14. Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition: All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

15. Overseas Exhibitors: All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days: Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your

dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Health & Welfare of Dogs: Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show.

18. Not for Competition: Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. Schedule Amendments: No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

20. Best Junior in Show: Best Junior will be declared in every breed.Only those exhibits entered in Junior Breed, AVNSC or AV Imported Breed Register classes will be eligible to compete for Best Junior in Breed. Best Junior in Breed winners will be eligible to compete for Best Junior in Group and the winners of Best Junior in Group will then be eligible to compete for Best Junior in Show.

21. Best Veteran in Show: Best Veteran will be declared in every breed.Only those exhibits entered in Veteran Breed, AVNSC or AV Imported Breed Register classes will be eligible to compete for Best Veteran in Breed. Best Veteran in Breed winners will be eligible to compete for Best Veteran in Group and the winners of Best Veteran in Group will then be eligible to compete for Best Veteran in Show.

22. Change of Judge: Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling their engagement, the Executive Committee reserve to themselves the right of appointing other Judges to fulfill their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be refunded.

23. Refunds and Cancellation: Entry fees will not be refunded in any circumstances where any act of God or any other unforeseen circumstances causes the cancellation of the show after entries have closed.

24. Dog Fouling: Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Adequate receptacles for the disposal of such fouling will be provided.

25. Gangways: Gangways must be kept clear at all times. Any obstructions, including dog boxes, left in gangways will be removed by the Show Management.

26. Exclusion of Dogs: The Committee is empowered to exclude or remove any dog which, in the opinion of the Show Management and/or the Veterinary Surgeon is not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, vice or any other cause. If such exclusion takes place either before or after the dog is judged, the entrance fee will be forfeited.

27. Safety of Dogs: The Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dog, person or property whether arising from accident, or any other cause whatever, or from any act or omission of itself, its officers, agents, servants or others or the damage done by the exhibitor to any person or property.

28. Conversation: Is not allowed in the judging ring. Exhibitors showing dogs are not permitted to hold conversation with the Judges during competition and any exhibitor who persists in addressing the Judge after being requested not to do so by the Ring Steward, the Judge or any Member of the Committee, may be disqualified and any prize awarded to his or her dog(s) be forfeited. No persons other than the exhibitors (Officials excepted) will be allowed in the ring during judging of classes or specials.

29. Benching of Dogs: The Catalogue will contain the owner's name and address in alphabetical order, dogs will be benched in this order. Under no circumstances may partitions between dogs be removed. No dog may be removed from its bench except for the purpose of being prepared for exhibition, judged, exercised, or by order of the Veterinary Surgeon or Show Management. After being prepared for exhibition the dog must be replaced on its bench. No dog shall be absent for the purpose of exercise for more than 15 minutes. Dogs may not be present at the ringside except when their breed is being judged. The Committee will not be responsible if a dog is not available in the ring when required for judging.

30. Responsibility: The Committee will not be in any way responsible for any claim for injury or compensation occasioned by or arising out of the holding of the Show or by any other reason of the act of default of any person in attendance or present thereat. Blackpool Championship Dog Show do not accept any responsibilty for loss, damage or theft of any tables, cages, boxes or personal effects at this Show.

31. Safety Officer: A Safety Officer will be in attendance throughout the Show. Exhibitors and spectators are reminded that just as Blackpool & District Canine Society has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of all those attending their event, all those present have a duty of care for their own safety. They are therefore expected to take the greatest of care to avoid guy ropes, uneven surfaces and other hazards which are inevitable and an integral element of an outdoors dog show. Those bringing and using portable items of equipment such as folding chairs, trolleys, cages and grooming tables also have a duty of care to themselves, their equipment and their dogs. Exhibitors are also reminded that they should wear appropriate footwear for the prevailing conditions on site (i.e. wet grass); exhibitors show at their own risk if conditions are not ideal.

32. Alterations: An announcement prior to the date of closing of entries in the canine press and/or our website of any alteration or addition made by the Committee to the Schedule or in these Regulations shall be sufficient notice thereof.

33. Abusive Behaviour: The Society will not tolerate any kind of abusive behaviour to its Officers, Committee or staff on its showground, car parks or caravan park, anyone found to be behaving in this manner will be asked to leave and a report will be sent to the Kennel Club.

34. Photography and Filming: The taking of photographs on the showground for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers.

35. Overnight Parking: Overnight parking is charged at £10.00 per night which includes the daily car park charge and MUST be pre-booked with the Secretary no later than 7 days before the show (NOT to include camping).

36. Nothing may be carried, worn or displayed by a handler or a dog in the ring which is capable of indicating the identity of the exhibit, owner or company which might be sponsoring that handler or dog. Nor must anything be said or any action be taken which identifies the exhibit other than by exhibit number supplied by the Society.

37. Parents will be held responsible for any damage to property or equipment caused by their children within the environs of the Show. 38. Should any question arise which is not provided for in these Rules & Regulations the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject to appeal to

the Kennel Club. 39. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been:

a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge. This shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees.

40. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 41. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under

proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESIn the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title of Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class, i.e. Tuesday, 28th April 2020.Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering for Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options: (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulation F.(1).19. (2) Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the

equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted, to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

b) If an exhibit is entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty four calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy class, Junior class or Yearling class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class.

MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.YEARLING For dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty four months of age on the first day of the Show.GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate/CACIB/CAC/Green Star or four or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Graduate,

Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate/CACIB/CAC/Green Star or five or more First Prizes at Championship Shows

in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.MID LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body recognised

by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CC/CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won 5 or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit or Open classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where CCs were offered for the breed.

LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CC/CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won 7 or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.VETERAN For dogs of not less than 7 years of age on the first day of the Show.RARE BREEDS Confined to those breeds not granted Challenge Certificates in the current year, with the exception of those breeds whose registration

is confined to the Imported Register.IMPORTED BREED REGISTER For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when an Interim Breed Standard has been published

by the Kennel Club. Such breeds may be exhibited in this class only, with the winning dog being eligible for Best in Group / Best Puppy in Group or Best in Show / Best Puppy in Show as relevant.

ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes are scheduled.

plus owner, handler or exhibit never to have won a Challenge Certificate.JUNIOR STAKES For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS' COMPETITION Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of four dogs of one breed, all bred by the

same breeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and then arranges which dogs are exhibited on the day of the show (from those dogs duly entered for exhibition in another class at this show). Please clearly state the name and affix of the registered breeder(s). Entries will not be taken on the day of the show. Teams will be awarded points/prize money in the KC Breeders' Competition as follows: Points 1st; 30; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5. Prize Money 1st Non ABS Prize Fund £20; ABS Prize Fund £25. Please note that Assured Breeders will be credited with a higher prize value. These points will be recorded in the Kennel Club Breeders Competition record book through the year. The minimum qualification for the Crufts final will be 50 points, with a maximum of 40 finalists including the winning teams from the European and World Dog Shows’ breeders competition. Our Dogs will collate the points and publish a leader board through the year. Please Note: Dogs which take part in the Breeders' Competition, but are not entered in the show, are required to have a completed entry form. Owners of these dogs must attend the Secretary’s office to complete the entry form.

YKC MEMBERS' STAKES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The YKC method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. If a member and dog combination accumulate 30 points or more, they will qualify for Crufts. Points will be allocated for the Dog and Handler pairing. All points are reset to 0 on 1st February each year. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered; a. Solely or jointly in the member’s name or b. In the name of a close member of the family (i.e a group of people related by blood or marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted - the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. Members must be aged 6 -24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a members 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions. YKC MEMBERS' HANDLING CLASSES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into an YKC qualifying class. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); 12-17 years (12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday); 18-24 years (18 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please enter the class age category you will be on the day of the qualifier. If you should move into the next age range after you have already qualified, the YKC will invite you into the correct age group at Crufts. The method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. Members will receive points per group (i.e. if they handle a Bloodhound, they will get points towards the Hound group). If a member gets 30 points in any one group, they will qualify to enter a dog from that group at Crufts 2021. If a member gains 30 or more points in multiple groups, they may only compete with one dog at Crufts, but they will have the option to choose from any of the groups they have 30 or more points in.
