Sealed Power pistons include innovative features such as:
• Digital Diamond Profiled™ (DDP™) Technology: Digital-actuated diamond turning process ensures precision
barrel skirt profiles, helping control oil consumption and improving piston stability.
• Thermal Arching Compensation™ (TAC™) Ring Groove Geometry: Ring grooves are machined with an uptilt to
offset thermal “arching” distortion. Uptilt squares the ring face to the cylinder for increased power and decreased oil
consumption.
• DUROSHIELD® Skirt Coating: Antifriction coating reduces friction across entire RPM range, increases wear
resistance for long life, and provides superior NVH reduction.
• PRECISION BORE™ Pin Bores: Patented pin boring process produces a rounder and smoother surface, absorbing

DDP™ piston skirt profiles are produced with proprietary equipment,
which allow for precise control of nearly infinite profile forms for an
application-specific profile.
Barreled Skirt Vertical Profile
• Top and bottom of skirt profiles are designed to compensate for thermal expansion, to control
contact with the cylinder wall, and to allow the piston to “roll” smoothly rather than “slap” the
cylinder, reducing NVH and improving piston stability.
• Barrel profile promotes oil wedge – hydrodynamic lubrication – between skirt and cylinder wall
(vs. straight-taper pistons, which tend to scrape oil off the cylinder wall), reducing wear and
friction.
Oval-Shaped Horizontal Profile
• Accommodates skirt deflection while maintaining proper skirt-to-wall contact under load.
• Eliminates piston skirt scuffing/scoring on outside corners.

• Ring grooves are machined with an uptilt to offset thermal arching distortion,
keeping the face of the ring square to the cylinder for increased power and
decreased oil consumption.
• CNC groove machining process consistently produces precise ring groove
flatness with no more than a 15 micron variation (“wave”) between any two
points.
• Antifriction skirt coating increases wear resistance for long life, provides
superior NVH reduction and increases horsepower.
• Reduces friction across entire RPM range and related scuffing without the
need to adjust the wall clearance for an enhanced seal.
• Skirt window measures the exact skirt size for precise bore clearance.

The Heart of the Piston
• The piston pin and pin hole design are critical for the piston
to perform in demanding operating conditions.
• During engine operation, the connecting rod is responsible for
transmitting combustion power to the crankshaft. As a result,
the piston pin and corresponding pin hole absorb extreme and
continuous radial loads.
• Sealed Power patented pin boring process produces a
rounder and smoother surface, absorbing extreme and
continuous radial loads.
• Ideal pin and pin hole design allows for quieter operation and
enables tighter tolerances.

Second Rings
• Cast iron or steel base material for excellent durability and superior oil control
• Application-specific designs, including internally-beveled rings, provide additional sealing and scraping
capabilities creating torsional twist to prevent blow-by
Oil Control Rings
• Variety of designs, from a one-piece body to a three-piece (two rails and an expander), to compensate for
the bore distortion at hand
• Body directional opening provide exceptional oil scraping action, allowing excess oil to drain back into the
