From Johannesburg to Durban 12 – 15 June 2020

JB Train Tours invite you to join the annual train tour to the 2020 Comrades marathon in KZN. This year the

race is a ‘down’ run from Pietermaritzburg to finish in Durban. Are you tired of driving, looking for

accommodation and worrying about the logistics? We’ll take you there.

When travelling with us you don’t have to worry about increasing petrol prices, tollgate fees, heavy traffic,

driving back or sitting with stiff legs in your car. It is so much easier and VERY price competitive.

Any person who is interested in going to the Comrades marathon may join this tour. I.e.: Runners, supporters,

family, friends, children and girlfriend, from anywhere.

Accommodation over the ‘Comrades weekend’ in Durban is very scarce and expensive. We were fortunate to

secure a number of rooms in an upmarket hotel in Durban.

Our company have been fortunate to be involved in this event for many years with thousands of runners and

One breakfast on the train (P#1), two Buffet Breakfast at the Hotel. All other meals are available

in Durban or at the Hotel. Bring your own ‘padkos’ for the train trip en route to Durban.

You will travel from Johannesburg to Durban via Standerton & Newcastle to be able to

register on the Saturday prior to the race. Passengers may join at any of the official stopping

places for the train en route.

Passengers will be accommodated in a 4-bed compartment or 2-bed

coupe on the train (Trans Natal Tourist Class train). The number of

coupes on the train is limited.

It is provided on the train whilst traveling (one night, P#1) and in a 3 star hotel in

Durban – 2 nights. The rooms are spacious & the facilities are great. (P#1 & P#2)

It is provided on the train & hotel. However bring along your own blanket as well. It gets very

cold on the train in the winter.

Flights are between JHB and DBN

Bus transport is provided (included in the tour package) between the train and

hotel, airport, start line and finish line at the stadium. The tour leader will

inform you on tour where the pickup point will be.

The finish line in Durban (Moses Mabida Stadium) is about 2.6 km from the hotel.

Please make sure that you have warm clothing when going to DBN. It can be very cold in DBN

before the race starts.

Please read your Comrades marathon Information brochure well.

Registration for the race is normally done at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in

DBN. This will be done on the Saturday after arrival in DBN before the bus proceeds to the

hotel in DBN.

Please complete the attached Reservation Form and return it (fax or e-mail), with the Bank

Deposit slip, to the tour organiser (JB Train Tours). Closing date is when all the beds are taken.

(Like all the previous years). We suggest you book now. Group/club bookings welcome.

Travel by bus from DBN Hotel to the finish line in PMB (included in tour price)

After the race there will be shuttle bus service between the stadium & hotel. The

tour leader will be visible to direct you to this point. All other facilities will be at

the event grounds. VERY CLOSE to the FINISH LINE.

Deposits will not be paid back, but can be transferred/resold to someone else, with the consent

of the organisers.
