2020-2021 Ensembles CLARINET audition materials WHERE: MRH, Room 1, Room 218, or Dennison WHEN: Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion - August 17-18 Strings - August 19-20 Sign up for times ONLINE PROCEDURE: Only enter the greenroom space once it is empty. Enter the stage at your time if it is empty. Perform excerpts, solo of your choice (2-3 minutes), & sight reading Exit the stage via the stage stairs. TIPS: 1. Print all excerpts and begin practicing. People listening to your audition can immediately tell the difference between normal mistakes and being unprepared. 2. LISTEN like crazy to recordings of the excerpts and translate any foreign words. It will inform you, inspire you, and make you better! Spotify, Youtube, Music Online (FREE @ Mansfield Library), Naxos Music Library (FREE @ Mansfield Library) 3. The audition is a performance; if something goes wrong, just keep playing. Clean and accurate is always preferred to uncontrolled and fast. 4. Take a moment to look at the sight-reading before starting. Regarding COVID-19 In order to protect students and faculty members from Covid-19, all UM large ensembles (Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Concert Band) will be divided into smaller ensembles of approximately 6-20 members. This will allow rehearsals and performances to be conducted with proper spacing. Rehearsals will be held in large rooms with proper ventilation and other appropriate protections.
