Abduction Dorsiflexion Mechanism (ADM) Sizing and Fitting

There are seven sizes of ADM; XX-Small, X-Small, Small, Small/Medium, Medium, Medium/Large and Large, with various spring configurations and strengths.

ADM Selection

Each size of the ADM may be ordered with Standard, Strong or Soft STJ (abducting) and TTJ (dorsiflexing) springs (see guidelines below). Clinical judgement is required to determine the most suitable option.

Guidelines for spring options:

• Standard spring options should be suitable for most patients with well corrected clubfeet.

• Softer spring options may be required for hyper-mobile feet, patients with low muscle tone and body mass.

• Strong spring options may be appropriate for patients whose feet are more resistant and have less than ideal range of motion. Also stronger springs may be appropriate for patients with larger body mass.
