With everyone in their Gi’s and gear, the dojo is looking truly spirited and ready to train. Please remember that Gi’s and gear are available throughout the year. Please also remember NOT to wash your belts. To wash the belt means you are washing the “spirit” out of it. So please do not wash. Also be sure to mark your new blue bags with a distinguishing feature (key chain, ribbon etc). Just a reminder that we will be taking Thursday October 31 st off of classes for Halloween. We will also not be having classes over the Remembrance Day long weekend. On Saturday November 16 th we will be hosting the 17 th annual Friendship Tournament at Christ the King School in Cranston. If you have signed up, please make sure you attend. If you are participating in the non-contact portion of the tournament you need to be at the venue no later than 9:00 am with your gloves, shin pads and mouth guards (Please mark your gear) You do NOT need your head gear as coloured head gear will be provided. If you are participating in the knockdown divisions of the tournament, please be at the venue no later than 10:00 am. Medals will be handed out at the end of the tournament. You must be in attendance to receive a medal this year. If for any reason you have signed up and are no longer able to attend, please contact us ASAP so we can adjust the tournament draw. Parents…don’t forget your cameras! On Saturday November 23rd Christ the King classes will be held at the Lake Bonavista Community Centre in the fitness room, as Christ the King school is not available this day. Class times remain the same. Next, many of you have been asking about the Calgary Kyokushin Karate Team jackets that you see our members wearing. Because of the interest we will be placing an order in the next few weeks. If you would like to order a jacket please let us know and we will get you sized up. Cost is $80 and includes your name on the sleeve if you wish. Sizing will take place in November. All orders and payment must be received by November 26 th . Next I would like to wish Sempai Spencer the best of luck in Japan. On the 22 nd of November he will be competing in the International Friendship tournament which is being held in conjunction with the 12 th World Tournament (The Olympics of Kyokushin karate). Good luck Spencer! On December 7th the Banff Championships will be taking place. If you are planning on attending please email us to let us know. This will be the first tournament of the Alberta Tournament Circuit challenge. The other tournaments in the Challenge are: January 4 th - Edmonton Cup (Tentative), March 21 st - Calgary Cup, and in April 2020 - Alberta Open (Edmonton). If you would like information regarding these events please just click the poster on the left hand side of our website when they become available. All students who attend all 4 events in Alberta will receive a plaque at the end of the season! The tournament season wraps up in May with the IKOKC Championships in Vancouver. Finally, many of you have been asking about grading! Children’s Grading registrations (for Jr Kyu and below) and payments will be due by December 5 th - watch for the grading registration email next week. If you do not have a copy of the children’s grading syllabus, please contact us so we can get you another copy. Grading for orange belts & above will take place in January 2020. Grading for children in the family classes will take place in class from December 9 th - 14 th (children in family classes for JR Kyu & Below). Children in the advanced children’s classes grading for Jr Kyu & below will grade during the family class time on December 9 th 12 th or 14 th . As always thank you for your support! Osu!
