This prestigious award recognizes the exceptional contributions of a Registered Early Childhood Educator. This leader is inspirational in their work with children, families and community. They embody and exemplify excellence by upholding and surpassing the values, integrity and fine attributes of the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of an Early Childhood Educator. Through their dedication and skill, they motivate, empower and engage others. Learning Professional who demonstrates exemplary inclusive practices with young children. Sponsored by: Lansdowne Children’s Centre AWARD: $100 AND A PHYSICAL KEEP SAKE

DONN ZVER LOVE OF READIND AWARD: NEW : This award will recognize an

outstanding individual who is working to nurture and promote the love of reading within young children. They may have demonstrated a commitment to expand children’s access to books, encouraged reading and literacy activities and/or participated in events or programs which provide literacy related experiences. They may be working front line with children or parents or be involved with a planning board, service club or agency whose goal is to raise awareness of the importance of early literacy. EARLY LEARNING SPIRIT AWARD: Peer nomination. Open to volunteers, foster parents,

centre staff other than RECE’s, librarians, assistants, board members etc. This award recognizes an individual whose work makes a significant difference in the lives of young children, families and/or colleagues, through their daily contributions. Sponsored by: YMCA Child Care AWARD: $100 and Keepsake

CHILD CARE COMMITMENT AWARD: Recognizes an individual who has shown

commitment by working for the same employer for 20 + years in a licensed child care. (may be recently retired within one year). Throughout changes over the years, this individual has shown strength, adaptability and a sustained commitment to their employer’s vision. Mentoring and life-long learning has allowed this individual to stay current, passionate in their role and a valuable member of their employer’s team. Nominees can include RECE’s or non RECE’s from Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations and Mississauga’s of the New Credit First Nations. THE PARENTS CHOICE AWARD: A parent/caregiver nominated award which recognizes an

individual who demonstrates exceptional caring, compassion, empathy, and acceptance to children and their families. Sponsored by: The Dey Family AWARD: $100 and Selection of Children’s Books

JEANNINE TURNBULL MEMORIAL AWARD: To be given to a home child care provider

affiliated with a licensed agency who demonstrates the characteristics of Jeannine. The recipient will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and embraces the “How Does Learning Happen?” pedagogy while providing healthy home cooked meals and tender loving care to the children and families they touch. The Nancy Corke ‘JOY OF NATURE AWARD”: “Nanc enjoyed a career nurturing young

children and was extremely passionate about sharing the joys of nature with them. This NEW award has been created to honour her memory and to encourage us to follow her example,” This award will recognize a Centre or Program that demonstrates innovation to provide children with quality outdoor activities or experiences. Application must include photos as well as a write up explaining the details around the experience or learning opportunities and how they relate to nature for young children. Award: $500 to be used to further enhance the children’s outdoor enjoyment such as additional playground development, toys, or a field trip. Can self-nominate or can be nominated by a peer or parent. Sponsored by the Corke Family

Achievement Recognition

ECE LIFETIME ACHIEMENT PINS: Self nomination via the online form. Sponsored by Kids Can Fly and presented to Registered Early Childhood Educators (or equivalent as deemed by the College of Early Childhood Educators) who have worked in the early learning field for a minimum of: 20 YEARS * 30 YEARS * 40 YEARS Please fill in the form noting where the applicant worked and during what time. For 40 years of service, send a photo and detailed bio. LIFETIME COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT PINS: Self nomination - Sponsored by Kids Can Fly and awarded to individuals who are ‘other than ECE’s’, and have attained a minimum of 20 years of involvement with young children. Open to child care workers, educational assistants, teachers, home child care providers, foster parents, children’s librarians, child welfare professionals, recreational workers, volunteers, board members, committee members, etc.
