MAY/JUNE, 2019 Governor’s Report by Louis Gabriele
2019 CAL-NEV Association Mid-Year Conference
Here come the Women! Here come the Women! Here come the Women!
At the 2019 CAL-NEV Association Mid–Year Conference, there were straw polls taken from the men present and the women present and the interest passed unanimously. “Get ready folks; it’s coming down the pike.” said Rick Balthazar, president. The Washington/Northern Idaho Moose Association has been enjoying a joint Moose Association for over a year. Here are some comments. From the Washington State/Northern Idaho Moose Association, Pullman, WA 99163, Susan Williams District 1 President said, “It’s hard to believe that we’re entering our second year as a Joint Association! As a District President, I can see that the men and women are working together to make this really a Family Fraternity.” John Mangiantini, WSNIMA Secretary said, “By October, we could be one of four associations that have the vision to realize that we need our women in leadership roles.”
Two hundred sixty members checked in. Three hundred two were attendees. Lots going on. Next year the Association Meeting and Convention will take place in Southern California. (Continued on page 3)

MEMORIAL DAY
May 27th is the day we celebrate all the men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. It is also a time of rememberance for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Through all the wars this country has fought, the one symbol that unites us most of all is the American flag! Display it proudly!
The Loyal Order of Moose has the Valued Veteran Appreciation Program and I encourage all eligible members of our Lodge to enroll. Call the office if you need more information.
On behalf of this Lodge, I want to thank all veterans for your service. God Bless America.
Don Thompson, Administrator

The Moose Mission
Moose members, do you know what the Moose Mission is? Moose Lodges throughout the US should be promoting the Mission, but sadly, it is not being done. I was in a group of three individuals who were talking about the Elks organization and one of the three asked me if I was an Elk Member. I said no, but I am a member of the Moose Fraternity. He responded, “What is a Moose?” I took that as an opening to brag about what the Moose fraternity Mission is all about. He seemed impressed. For those of you who may have forgotten what our Mission is, allow me to refresh your memory. First of all, support the needy and at-risk children at Mooseheart. Mooseheart is a child city and school located 40 miles west of Chicago, IL. It is a residential and educational child care facility. Here the kids receive a class “A” education which provides them with a positive attitude as they enter adulthood. Secondly, support our retired senior members who reside at Moosehaven. We refer to Moosehaven as our “City of Contentment.” It is located on 70 acres along the banks of the St. John’s River in Orange Park, Florida. The residents enjoy the benefits of an indoor swimming pool, bowling lanes, exercise equipment and game rooms. There are always dances, special dinners, shopping and sightseeing trips. Our seniors live here in a gated safe and secure facility where they can live the rest of their remaining lives in contentment with other retired Moose members. Thirdly, support our local communities. There are many ways to do this. Our Lodge has provided complimentary breakfasts to our local Firefighters and their families. We have donated “Tommy Moose” dolls to the fire and police stations in the Glendale and Montrose communities. We are members of our local Chamber of Commerce. Presently, we have sponsored two baseball teams. The kids look pretty good wearing their baseball uniforms with their jersey tops reflecting the Moose logo and the inscription “Glendale Moose #641” around the Moose Logo. Some of the kid’s parents have thanked us for sponsoring their children’s team. “Go Moose.” Fourth, promote the growth of our membership in our Lodge. We believe that by getting more involved in our community, we can perhaps attract some individuals to become Moose members of the Glendale Moose Lodge. We are an organization which is one notch higher than all the rest. God Bless Mooseheart, Moosehaven and all the members of the Glendale Moose Lodge #641.
Richard Burrola, Junior Governor

MOOSE – CREATE OUR FUTURE
May 1, 2019 - April 30, 2020
The future of our Mooseheart children’s education and well-being depends on what we do today. The responsibility to continue to provide what we promised to our senior members rests with us now. It’s up to US to make sure that there IS a future! To do so, we need to Create Our Future now. The best way to do so is to introduce our friends and family to the Moose. Sponsor a member today so that we can grow the Fraternity for the future. We may never enjoy the shade of the trees that we plant but our legacy will live
on in the hearts of those that we support.
Sponsor 1 Member Moose - Create Our Future pins are presented by your Lodge, Chapter or Moose Legion to individuals that sponsor their first
member during the campaign.
