Training Our Coaches

Implementation of the Player Development Committee has allowed for focus on improving the training and coaching of hockey skills to our players.

Coaching of hockey skills in the organization overall is improving.

We have had some issues with inappropriate behavior with coaches, parents and players.

We have not trained our coaches, leaders and parents to collaboratively create a culture that teaches life skills as well as hockey skills.

Reporting Conduct Complaints

When possible, communicate your concerns to your coach first.

◼ You should also file a conduct report and let the conduct committee know that you talked to your coach regarding the incident. Keep any documentation you may have regarding the incident including names, dates, etc.

◼ If you do not feel the situation has been resolved or if the situation escalates, reach out to the conduct committee and let them know you would like them to review your complaint. Provide them with any information or documentation you have regarding the incident.

If you are not comfortable communicating your concerns with your coach, file a conduct report and let the conduct committee know you would like them to review your complaint. Providing a reason you did not reach out to your coach might be helpful.

AAHA Home Tournaments this Season

All tournaments will be held at the new Community First Champion Center

Exception: Girls 8U to be held on Tri County small ice

Squirt A/B and Peewee A/B to provide the volunteer hours necessary to host a

successful tournament

Volunteer hours do not count towards Dibs requirements

Volunteering is the trade off for the cost savings and convenience of having a Home tournament versus

having to travel, paying for hotels, food, gas, etc.

Girls Classic and Monsters on Ice will still make use of Dibs volunteers due their size

Each tournament has its own page on the AAHA website with a list of current

teams registered

Squirt C/Peewee C tournaments possible next season

Training Camp Weekends What is a "training camp weekend"?

Instead of traveling to away games, each team will have more concentrated practice ice

Off ice activities / Chalk talk

When and where?

Tentatively –

◼ November 30-December 1

◼ December 28-29

Location: AFIC, Tri-County, Waupaca, Oshkosh, Shawano -- wherever we can get reasonably affordable ice time that limits inconvenience

Why the change?

More practice time = more development opportunities

Historically, schedule included higher ratio of games to practice than desired

The goal is to re-balance, re-prioritize, and increase development opportunities through additional practice ice time in an immersive setting

Will this reduce number of games my child's team plays?

The number of home games will not be reduced

Tournaments will not be reduced

Attendance is considered mandatory – camp weekends are not optional

• In order for the organization to take steps toward a future of success, change will be inevitable.

• We will do our best to minimize the effects of these changes on each of you.

Please know that as we continue to dig into our organizational

structure and overall function, we will always keep two things

in mind when debating the need for change…

We will always strive to do what is best for the kids!

1. What is best for the overall organization?

2. What is best for every child in this

organization?
