Well, if you missed the
Lions Legacy Foundation
fundraiser at Top Golf,
you really missed a fantas-
tic event. The weather was
perfect, the family and
friends environment was
exciting, and the overall
feedback from the event
was—Exceptional!
The event was held at the
Top Golf outdoor facility
off I-10. Over 140 friend
and family members at-
tended the event including
students, moms, dads,
grandparents, business
owners, corporate spon-
sors, teachers, and alum-
ni. For three hours, play-
ers enjoyed swinging clubs
off the third floor with the
high hopes of hitting huge
targets below. Many play-
ers found themselves
laughing as much as they
were swinging. It was
largely a social event as
much as it was golf com-
petition, for some golfers
anyway. Those attending
were treated to a large
buffet of various entrees,
snacks, desserts, and soft
FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR ACH FOOTBALL
In a matter of just a cou-
ple weeks the ACH foot-
ball team, along with their
family and friends raised
over $3300 with the click
of a button. Coach Josh
Puryear organized an
email campaign that
stirred the players to con-
tact their family members
to help support the grow-
ing needs of the players.
Loaded with an email and
a list of potential support-
ers the players and their
families got to work on
raising money. Collective-
ly they set their goal and
actually raised money to
help the team get helmets,
and needed equipment for
the season. Thanks to all
the donors for the cam-
paign.

Earlier in the summer,
Lions Legacy Foundation
Board member Dan
Calongne organized the
effort to take down the
old lights on the high
school football field and
set up new state-of-art
LED lights. The new
lighting system replaced
the nearly 40 year-old
creosote poles that were
just worn down to noth-
ing. Thanks to the gener-
osity of several compa-
nies local and in Baton
Rouge, Ascension Chris-
tian students who play
football and soccer can
enjoy the Friday night
lights in a new way. Visi-
tors to the campus enjoy
the well-lit field, side-
lines, and stadium.

The Lions Legacy Foun-

school continue to grow.
The Foundation works
to offset costs by raising

needed funds to purchase
equipment and supplies
for the football team in
early August. Coach
Puryear and his team
sent emails to family and
friends who responded
with over $3300 in dona-
tions. The funds helped to
offset the purchasing of
the new Riddell Speed
Flex helmets. As well, the
team purchased new
shoulder, wrist, and ankle
braces from Alert Ser-

Thank you to everyone
who supported the team
via the email campaign.
Coach Puryear said, “The
best thing about the email
campaign was that we got
to keep 100% of the mon-
ey. That’s the best kind of
fundraiser!”

for many in attendance
including those who just
came by to watch their
family members play.
Many players enjoyed
taking a break and relax-

ball games. After the
games were finished the
winning team was award-
ed a trophy and a gift
card to play more at Top
Golf at a later date.
The event was not only a great
family fun day, but it also
raised over $15,000. The funds
