LAST TIME VS. UCLA – COUGAR WIN STREAK ENDED BY UCLA, 12/18/10ANAHEIM – BYU men’s basketball suffered its first loss of the season in the John R. Wooden Classic, losing to UCLA 86-79 on Saturday at the Honda Center.

“It was a very entertaining game and our guys played re-ally hard. I give a lot of credit to UCLA,” BYU coach Dave Rose said. “They were physical, strong and played well. We didn’t really have an answer for their size. I was really proud of how hard our team played. We played really hard and competed until the end. We needed to make a few more plays.”

The Cougars were led by Jimmer Fredette who scored 25 points in the loss. Brandon Davies added 18 points while Jackson Emery also scored 15 points and tallied two steals. Davies, Emery and Chris Collinsworth, who returned to the court for the Cougars after a six-game absense due to injury, led the Cougar rebounding efforts with five boards each in the loss.
