Happy New Year!

Thanks again to David and Brenda Denney for hosting the December meeting and Christmas party.

2018 promises to be another great year for your Music City Mopar Club as the calendar begins to fill or over fillin a couple cases. As Gary mentions below, Nashville Good Guys and the Moparty are on the same weekend (May 11-12) as are the Meeting of the Mopars and the Indy Swap Meet (March 3rd weekend). Looks like we need to divide and conquer those two weekends.

As of January 5th, 108 of 174 members have renewed for 2018. Included in this total are two new members – Michael Heiser and Russell Dowdy. Welcome Michael and Russell.

Our January meeting will be held on Sunday, January 28th at Davis’ private auto collection, 2967 McCanless

Rd, Nolensville, TN 37135. Meet and greet begins at 1 followed by the meeting @ 2 PM. Please no pictures outside the venue! Thanks to Tommy Richmond for arranging the meeting location.

The December Music City Mopar Club meeting/Christmas Party was held December 17 at David Denney's home. David and crew did their usual great job cooking up the burgers, dogs, chicken, and fixings. Thanks again David.

After the members approved the minutes of the November meeting, Club President Donny Lippard opened the meeting with the news that Freeland CDJR will continue as a platinum sponsor in 2018. Be sure to visit them for all of your vehicle needs.

Steve Yeldell was introduced as the new Events Director.Outgoing Events Director James Peach reported on the upcoming Nashville Auto Fest happening Jan. 20-21 atthe Nashville Fairgrounds. The club has been invited to fill the same room that we have been in at past Hunter'sshows. As of meeting time we had 13 committed and could use a few more. There is no cost to enter, so if you are interested please talk to Jim.

The 3rd edition of the Southeast Moparty is scheduled for May 11-12 at the same location in Chattanooga as last year. There will be drag racing on Friday and a Roadrunner theme to the Saturday show with members

of the Ramchargers present. It should be another great get together of Mopar clubs. Unfortunately, the Nashville Good Guys event is scheduled for the same weekend. The Good Guys are including cars from 1987 and older in the main show this year, so more of our members should be able to enter for the full weekend this year.

The 4th Meeting of the Mopars at Tim Welborn's Museum in Alexander City, Alabama is on March 3rd. You should definitely plan to visit his museum if you have not been there before. You can contact the Birmingham Mopar Owners Club for more info.

Many thanks to Jim for all of his work as events director the past few years.

Treasurer Wayne Hall reported that the club continues to be in very good financial shape. As of the meeting, membership stood at 172. Some members have yet to renew for 2018, so if you know of anyone that hasn't renewed please remind them to do so. There will be a new membership list out after the end of January.

The club made several charitable donations this year. $500 in toys were donated to the Gateway Classic Cars Toys for Tots drive. $1000 was donated to the Wilson County FOP for their Shop With A Cop Christmas event. The club funded $1500 in scholarships to the TN College of Applied Technology Automotive Program. $500 was sent to help support the Moparty as a club sponsor. Victory Junction received a $500 donation. A $250 donation was proposed and approved at the Christmas Party for the College Hills Fellowship House in the name of David Denney. He is on the board of directors of this very worthy cause. These donations putus over the $4000 goal for 2017. A donation to the Big Easy Mopar Club will be made to help with the foodcosts for the great food that they prepare at our show on Friday night. All of this is made possible by the workof our members throughout the year, so thanks to all of you for making this happen.

Kevin Shaw brought the annual Hot Rod Power Tour toeveryone's attention. It starts in Bowling Green, KY on June 8 this year and heads south to Chattanooga for the first stop. Details can be found at Hot Rod.com.The January meeting on Jan. 28 will be at Davis’ private auto collection, 2967 McCanless Rd, Nolensville, TN 37135. It is hard to believe that 2018 is here already. 2017 was a very good year for our club. With all of the members and officers continued work and great participation in club events, 2018 should be even better.See you at the January meeting.
