QualityNewMexico–AnOverview

QualityNewMexico(QNM)wasformedinApril1993,asa501(c)(3)toadministertheNewMexicoPerformanceExcellenceAwards(NMPEA),thencalledtheNewMexicoQualityAwards,forthestateofNewMexico.ThemostrecentExecutiveOrder2012-003,issuedbyGovernorSusanaMartinez,reiteratesthisimportantrelationshipbetweenQNMandthestateofNewMexico.TheNMPEAprogramisthesoleproviderofNewMexico’smulti-leveled“pathtoperformanceexcellence”alignedwiththeMalcolmBaldrigeNationalQualityAward(MBNQA)programandusingtheBaldrigePerformanceExcellenceFramework®(alsoreferredtoasthe“BaldrigeCriteria”).TheNMPEAprocessinvolvesthesubmittalofanapplication(“self-assessment”)reflectingtheorganization’sresponsestotheBaldrigeCriteriaandthesubsequentreviewoftheresponsesbyvolunteerExaminers,whodevelopafeedbackreporttotheorganizationhighlightingStrengthsandOpportunitiesforImprovement(OFI’s)tobeconsideredaspartoftheapplicant’sperformanceexcellencejourney.Level1intheNMPEAassessmentprocessisfeedbackonthe“identity”oftheorganization–knownastheOP(OP).Levels2,3and4aremorerigorousandfocusonprocesses,measures,systems,andotheraspectsofperformanceexcellence.

OrganizationsachievingLevel4,theprestigiousZia®Award,areconsideredrolemodelsinNewMexicoandmayaspiretotheMBNQAaspartoftheirexcellencejourney.AnindependentNMPEAPanelofJudgesmakesthedecisionsforAwardsandRecognitions,basedonleveloforganizationalperformance.OrganizationsreceivingNMPEAAwardsandRecognitionsarehonoredattheofficialAwardsCeremonyduringtheannualQNMLearningSummit.

EligibilityCriteriaANMPEAOrganizationmaynominateanorganization(orindividual)forCompañeroRecognitionif:

1. ThenomineecontributedtoincreasingthelevelofperformanceoftheNMPEAOrganizationforanextendedperiodandinasystematicandmeaningfulmanner.

2. Anorganization-to-organizationmentoringpartnershipexistedbetweentheorganizationandtheApplicant.Oneormoreindividualscanbetheleadinterfacebetweentheorganizations,buttheprimaryrelationshipisbetweenorganizations.

3. Thereisnolimittothenumberofrecognitionsamentoringorganizationcanreceive.

NominationProcess1. ByJanuary31,aNMPEAorganizationsubmitsawrittennominationforthecandidate:

►identifyinginformationaboutthecandidateorganization(name,contactperson,phone)►descriptionofthenatureofthementoringpartnership(howcreated,durationoftherelationship,frequency,andtypesofinteractionsbetweentheparties).►descriptionofthenatureandextentofthecontributiontoanincreasedlevelofperformanceexcellence(whatchangedbecauseoftheinvolvementofthecandidateorganizationinthequalityeffortofthenominatingorganization).

2. TheNMPEADirectorwillreviewthenominationsagainsttheEligibilityCriteriaandselectforrecognitionthecandidateorganizationsthatprovideapositiverolemodelforotherNewMexicoorganizationsaspiringtohelpOrganizationsmovemorerapidlytowardperformanceexcellence.

3. CompañeroorganizationswillberecognizedduringtheNewMexicoPerformanceExcellenceAwardsCeremony.
