The many wonders of Rio de Janeiro, our congress city, include its famous beaches (Ipanema, Copacabana), the view from atop Sugar Loaf Hill and Corcovado with its statue of Christ overlooking the city. The 275 cataracts of Iguassu Falls, viewed from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, are absolutely spectacular. Buenos Aires is where European and South American cultures meet and the tango replaces the Brazilian samba. An Estancia excursion to watch gauchos show their riding skills is followed by a pampas barbeque. From Mendoza, a visit to the lush vineyards around Maipu and Lujan de Cuyo. Historic Santiago, Chile and Valparaiso on the Pacific Ocean are close to the vineyards of Pomaire. The extension tour continues to Lima and Cusco, the Inca capital, and the Valley of the Incas before arrival at the lost city, Machu Picchu.
