[email protected] Abstract: Principal component analysis (PCA) guided clustering approach is widely used in high dimensional data especially in identifying the spatial distribution patterns of daily torrential rainfall. This is done by applying cluster analysis on the most relevant principal directions extracted from a principal components analysis of the between day correlation. Typically, a common method of identifying rainfall patterns for climatological investigation employed T mode based Pearson correlation matrix to extract the relative variance retained. However, rainfall data in Peninsular Malaysia involve skewed observations which only take positive values and are skewed towards higher values. Thus, applying PCA based Pearson correlation on rainfall data set could affect cluster partitions and generate extremely unbalanced clusters in a high dimensional space. To overcome the problem, a robust dimension reduction method in Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to rectify the issue of unbalanced clusters in rainfall patterns due to the skewed nature of rainfall data. A robust measure in PCA using Tukey’s biweight correlation to downweigh observations is introduced and the optimum breakdown point to extract the number of components in PCA using this approach is proposed. The simulated data indicates a breakdown point of at 70% cumulative percentage of variance to give a good balance in extracting the number of components to avoid variations of low frequency or insignificant spatial scale in the clusters. The results show a substantial improvement with the robust PCA than the PCA based Pearson correlation in terms of the average number of clusters obtained.

Abstract: This paper presents a development of an alternative haze measurement system which can measure particulate matter and display in real time. The device is small in size relatively to the instrument available in the market called high volume sampler. It uses an optical sensor as a working principle and Arduino board as a microcontroller. The measurement system is able to measure particulate matter from the smoke generated using a mosquito coil. The reading from the developed haze measurement system is verified using a commercial sensor called Dust Mate.

Abstract: The research is conducted in surburban area of Selangor, Malaysia, focusing on B40 group of people. B40 is a classification of bottom 40% consisting of citizens who incomes below than RM3,000 per month. The objective of the study is to explore the B40’s household survival with insuficient income. B40 is the lowest category of income group in Malaysia. The study employed qualitative method and twenty participants were inerviewed. The result shows that B40 group of people is struggling for basic necessities due to low income, low education level, high risk in job loss, inability to work and lack of retirement plan.

Abstract: Energy saving in homes can be reached thanks to optimized energy management. This paper deals with the case of a solar house, installed on the site of UDES in Bou-Ismaïl (Algeria) located in the south shore of the Mediterranean, which is used as a test bench for the developed energy supervision system. The house is powered by an on grid PV system with backup. The proposed supervision system looks for the optimal flow energy management taking into account the availability

of the PV energy, the state of charge of the batteries and the energy demand of the loads while promoting the self-consumption and reducing the exchange of energy with the grid. The simulations of the monitoring system operation were carried out over a period of one year in order to match the energy demand with the local PV production using real daily consumption of the loads. It has been found that the storage improves significantly the local photovoltaic energy consumption by about 28% in winter, 95% in spring, 45% in summer and 42% in fall for the studied PV system (3.2kWp, 12kWh). This study has shown that there is a strong overall potential for improving self-consumption through the optimal management and storage of energy in the climatic conditions of northern Algeria.

Abstract: Data centre colocation service offers businesses rental space infrastructure for equipment rack, network servers, cooling, power, physical security and internet bandwidth; with 24/7 technical supervision for close to 100% uptime promise. Enterprise in-house data centres are getting increasingly expensive to build and maintain. Many colocation providers also provide managed hosting services and Business Process Outsourcing among other services. Data centre operators face challenges from public cloud providers, and suggestions are being explored for opportunities. This paper presents 3 cloud deployment models; namely private cloud, public cloud and hybrid cloud. The three-layer model of cloud computing; namely Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) is also introduced and briefly discussed. Colocation players with a global footprint are seeing the benefits of offering business platform which can adapt to customer demand and making the most out of the cloud deployment a model.

Abstract: The occupational health practice in petrochemical company is very important to prevent and control the occurrence of occupational illness. Management system proves to be a framework to manage and improve the organizations’ policies and environmental performances. Workplace injury can be prevented when the employers apply the policies and procedures to control the hazards from occurring. The present study aims to determine the preparedness in managing health hazards among offshore managers of Petrochemical companies in Kerteh, Malaysia. A purposive sampling method used to collect data from offshore managers in Petrochemical companies. The SPSS was used for descriptive analysis. All the managers have been asked regarding the practices and preventive measures taken at their representative companies in maintaining and promoting the health and safety of the employees. All of the respondents 100% (20/20) have prepare in managing occupational health hazards. In this study, most of the managers 55% (11/20) estimated that there was accidents occurred at the workplace. For about 45% (9/20) of the offshore managers estimated that there were no accidents occur at the workplace in a year. There was no significant association between the number of accident occurs at the workplace in a year and preparedness in managing occupational health hazards among offshore managers of Petrochemical companies in Kerteh. The number of accidents had been decreased from time to time due to the improvement programme of occupational injury and illness organized by the company.

Abstract: In this paper, the Quick Response (QR) technique is used to generate an encrypted QR-Code. This paper designs a security mechanism to verify certain related information used to access an Internet of Things (IoT) based system. Only authorized requests are enabled to access the IoT system. To achieve this goal, the proposed security mechanism has used a three-Layer-Policy Verification Procedure (3LPVP). The proposed 3LPVP is applied on the QRCode; this code is used as an IoT-key dedicated for a secure access. The proposed mechanism is important for a number of IoT-based systems that require information being shared and/ or transmitted between two

parties or more, e.g., digital hubs, digital ecosystems, and other industry 4.0 related technologies. The 3LPVP needs to verify IoT-key’s contents during the first layer to authenticate issue of the IoT-key. In addition, the IoT-key is periodically generated using a 1-session cryptographic key to keep the IoT-key confidential. To verify the IoT-key’s integrity, related values are compared to original hash values using a secret question to which the user needs to answer. In the third layer, data is stored using an offline mode to disable any access caused by threats; to preserve the IoT-key available and responsive. The 3LPVP is evaluated in terms of security factors and then compared to a number of competitive techniques. Results have shown good performance of 3LPVP against brute force attack and encryption’s computation time.

Abstract: Coating processes of military camouflage based on activated carbon was prepared using carbonization techniques via rotary kiln reactor, and applied to military camouflage using a thermal coating method. Additives (plasticizer, coupling agent, etc.) were co-thermal coated with binder on military camouflage. The coating process was examined, also assessing the specific of composite materials left on the military camouflage after one or two coating steps. The efficacy of the process in consolidating and protecting the military camouflage was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF).

Abstract: Franchise business system has been regarded as one of the tool that can stimulate the economy of the B40 societies. Therefore, this paper contained one major objective, which is to compare the practice of micro franchise in Malaysia with selected micro franchise businesses in Ghana and India. To accomplish the objective of this research, qualitative method were employed. In-depth interviews were conducted with the selected micro franchise businesses in Malaysia. The findings of this research revealed majority of the micro franchise businesses in Malaysia are yet to benefits B40 societies and even not affordable for them to venture. Further analysis also revealed that micro franchise busineses in Malaysia tend to have different objectives, business format, target group, distribution network and even business model as compared to selected micro franchise businesses in Malaysia. In addition, majority of the micro franchise businesses in Malaysia is a scale down franchise businesses rather than scale up businesses.

Abstract: With the rapid evolvement in the mobile landscape, mobile devices have make up a significant part of our everyday life. This in turn aids the user to easily carry and perform the work from anywhere and anytime. In order to prevent data compromise and to protect users, there arises the need to secure the files stored on the device. Android provides a secure means of full file encryption as part of the platform, and also supports device encryption that encrypts the complete device. In order to address this issue, an android application is developed that enables user to protect their sensitive files on their devices by using the AES encryption and decryption methods. The test results show that the proposed method can increase the key strength of the file encryption and decryption process. Encryption and decryption time by using AES-256 are faster than using combination of AES and MD5. This provides more security for the files on the android phone.

Abstract: Until present, little attention has been given in the study of heritage crafters’ information behavior. In Malaysia, none of the user studies have been conducted in the last decade focusing solely on songket weavers. This paper provides the results of a study involving in-depth interviews with nine weavers. This study is an attempt to explain how the weavers search for information, the access tools they use, and the barriers they face. The findings informed the information seeking, selecting, organizing and maintaining in the process of weaving the songket. The findings of this study can be used to develop a proper songket design data repository systems that will facilitate access for this significant group of crafters or weavers.

Abstract: In Algeria, sector of building has the highest energy consumption. Its consumption represents more than 42% of total final consumption The objective of this study is to analyze the thermal behavior of a building with an aim of ensuring a maximum thermal comfort in this building while minimizing the energy consumption of heating and air conditioning. The effect of ventilation on thermal comfort and on energy consumption is shown, using a numerical simulation for several speeds of ventilation. This simulation was carried out for two cities having distinct weather conditions, namely: Bechar and Constantine. In this simulation, the annual distribution of the temperatures in a building is obtained, in the case of a passive air conditioning, in order to estimate the annual duration where thermal comfort is satisfied. Also in the case of active air conditioning, the energy consumption of heating and air conditioning in a building is calculated. For a better efficiency, it is recommended that ventilation must vary according to the season.

Abstract: In this present paper, selected results concerning the static strength behavior of a three-dimensional (3-D) steel tower for a 850 kW horizontal-axis wind turbine are presented. The tower structure is 55 m height and consists of thin-wall cylindrical and three conical sections with variable wall thicknesses and variable cross-section axially along its height. The static response (stresses, displacements, strains and factors of safety) of the structure was investigated under gravity loads (nacelle, rotor and tower), rotor force and extreme wind loads with the aid of finite element software SOLIDWORKS Simulation. The simulation results indicate that the tower structure satisfy the design requirements of static strength.

This paper discusses on the authenticity function of DDMS at Syariah Judicial Department of Malaysia by identifying the requirements for managing authentic records and investigating whether the authenticity of digital records captured in DDMS is fulfilled. This study was conducted using single-case design method involving qualitative approach. In accomplishing the objectives of the study, the research strategy was overall appropriate. In summary, the investigation could well be used for identifying missing functional components of the system so that the digital record structure, content and context can be preserved and have evidential value.

Abstract: In software development, it is usually difficult to find the proper software component and customize or integrate it into the body of software. To reduce time and costs of errors produced in development processes, a systematically enriched representation of components is necessary. The main objective of this paper is to propose a general concept of domain ontology to express formally a shared understanding of information; we argue that they can be used to improve knowledge flow in enterprise software development process (SDP). In order to achieve this, we collect and analyse the concepts that have been used in knowledge flow ontology during enterprise software development process. We justify the need of the domain ontology in enterprise software development process. We further implemented the knowledge flow framework in domain ontology and validate it using a model of knowledge flow in software development. We performed a five-step procedure to measure the quality of the proposed knowledge flow framework model indicating that our proposed ontology for knowledge flow improves effectiveness of knowledge acquisition and sharing in software development organizations.

Abstract: This paper presents a study of sizing of standalone conventional photovoltaic system and tracking system designed for the electrification of a house located in Bou-Ismaïl Tipaza, northwest of Algeria. The system consists of conventional PV system or tracking system, electrical cabinet and batteries. Optimal sizing is carried out using the least-worst method to provide energy in winter. The results are presented to show the effectiveness and the drawbacks of each systems, they also indicate that tracking system give better solution.

Abstract: Malaysia has been successful in implementing dual banking systems in their field in attracting more depositors. In the context of Islamic Banking, the bank’s profitability is still in the questionable as the principle tied based on syariah law which is underlining the warship to Allah SWT. Majority of the study normally emphasizing of bank specific variables including macro-economic conditions, market structure and institutional development over bank profitability and therefore required some alter direction over the box. Thus, this study was conducted with

the aim to discover the relationship between fundamental strength across the Islamic bank laterally return on asset with the bank size, capital adequacy and liquidity to Malaysian Islamic banks profitability. To date, a sample size consisting 5 years yearly data have been gathered and summarized for 10 Malaysian Islamic Bank from 2013 until 2017. The data then been analysed using STATA 12 specifically Pooled Ordinary Least Squares method, Random Effect Model and Fixed Effect Model. It was revealed that only liquidity is significant in determining the profitability while bank size and capital adequacy are insignificantly related. There is a negative significant relationship between liquidity and return on asset of Malaysian Islamic banks according to the panel pooled (OLS) method. The remaining independent variables which are bank size and capital adequacy are not significant but positively influenced the return on asset. The result suggest that liquidity is significant correlated to all profitability measures and hence required some modification by management to spur back an authentically conclude in terms of deposits ROI. The Islamic banks perhaps working in similar direction over conventional banks in conjunction to the better economic financial evolvement and its profits need to be secured and elaborated.

Abstract: Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the sun, is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, concentrated solar power (CSP), concentrator photovoltaics (CPV), solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis. The aim of this work is related to the determination of the optimal configuration and performance of a CSP solar power plant (Parabolic Trough). The power plant of 50MW of power is installed in the south region of Algeria. This optmisation is based on LCOE minimization and the maximum of energy produced taking into account the influence of various parameters such as the site parameters and energy storage system. SAM software is used to determine the different parameters. The results are very encouraging and prove that Parabolic Trough can become an important element in renewable electricity production in countries where a large solar energy resource is available, such as the desert, equatorial regions and MENA region especially Algeria country.

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the interrelationships among the 3 key factors of behavior job involvement, job satisfaction and organizational commitment linked with the employee motivation to enhance the need of the managers to regulate the motivation program used, hence motivation plays a major role in the employee’s performance. Method: interviewing a focus group from the banking sector in Jordan using qualitative method in order to gather as much information needed to figure out the link between the 3 key factors, and to know what triggers the employee’s motivational needs to be able to conduct organizational goal. This research implies that employee’s motivation is an integral part to any organization success in any sector. This study shows focuses on the relationship between employee’s motivation and performance and shows how this relationship tends to lead to an increase in the outcome of the organization.

Abstract: For the synthesis or the modeling of passive microwave structures like antennas, filters, adapters...etc, the simulation plays a very important role. It allows us to get precise estimation of the

structure response without having to realize it. In order to synthesis a micro-strip antenna, we create an Application Programming Interface (API) between two softwares. The first one is MATLAB and the second is Ansys HFSS. The error rate between obtained and desired results is used to estimate the optimal dimensions of the structure using Practical Swarm Optimization technique. This method proofs to be effective in synthesizing a micro-strip antenna even for complicated geometry.

Agriculture is one of the main sectors that provides job opportunities for citizen in many countries over the world. In Malaysia, one of the government initiative was the Agricultural NKEA of Malaysia’s ETP that put emphasis on the agri-based entrepreneurship in aquaculture, organic farming, seaweed farming, herbal products, fruits and vegetables and premium processed food. On top of firm physical infrastructures and monetary aids in operating those initiative, information management play its role by provision of an integrated information services composing all critical aspects of agricultural-based agripreneurship. However, an initial scrutiny on agricultural-centric web portals provided by government’s agricultural-related departments and agencies indicated that agricultural information resources, services and products are isolated and scattered. This circumstance may strain potential entrance to explore opportunities and employment in agricultural-based business or agripreneurship. Subsequently, this research is proposed to examine the relevant and critical online information resources and services provided and available from governments’ agricultural-related departments and agencies. The potential outcome of the proposed study is the identification of the uniformed, integrated, and critical agripreneurship information resources, services and products into a framework of online agripreneurship one-stop information portal retrievable by potential agropreneurs for know-what, know-when, know-why, know-who, know-where and know-how pertaining to the agripreneurship.

Abstract: In previous study, the mixture of manure and sand have been tested successfully as media growth on local Jackfruit seedlings from Central Sulawesi, called Tulo-5 and Beka-3. It means that the organic fertilizers are a good fertilizer to use. One of organic fertilizer is Solid organic fertilizer (SOF) from Tilapia fish (Oreochromis mossambicus) waste. The objective of this research is to make Solid Organic Fertilizer (SOF) through ‘the Bakasang Fermentation Technology”(BFT) produced Liquid Organic Fertilazer (SOF), as a part of a local wisdom in North Sulawesi area. Both products have been analyzed macro nutrient of N,P,K elements by certain method and micro nutrients of Zn, Mn, Fe, Cu, Ni, Co elements by spectrophotometry method. Both products are not meet requirement of selling LOF and SOF especially or level of Nitrogen (12% ). On the other hand for a day necessity of plant feeding (1.5 ppm), both kind of fertilizer are still the most.

Abstract: In previous works, it has been demonstrated that the NMPC-PSO provides a fast solution and can be used in real time applications. In this paper, the quadcopter attitude is controlled by a nonlinear model predictive controller. This algorithm is implemented on the DJI F450 Quadcopter and executes instructions arriving from the radio controller. Knowledge-based Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem of the NMPC. Simulation and experimental results are presented for the studied controller with performance analysis in terms of the computation times and quality of tracking.
