Planting Guide

Remove plants carefully from the boximmediately upon arrival.

Unwrap carefully and remember thatmuch of our material can be recycled.

If the soil is dry to the touch,or the plants look a bit wilted,

water thoroughly.

Place plants in a protected spot outof direct sun and wind and allow them

to acclimate for a day or 2.

Your plants may be ‘jet lagged’ witha yellow leaf or two, or a bit of wilt. That isnormal and symptoms will

disappear in a day or so.

In the case of damage due to shipping, please contact us via email

([email protected]) andfollow the steps on your insert.

It is vital that you understand theparticular needs of the plants you have

purchased, and plant accordingly.

Full sun or part shade? How big arethey going to get at maturity?

Give them enough room to grow, andDONOT plant them according

to their current size!

Healthy soil isVITAL to healthy plants,so make sure that you are giving

them the best ‘home’ possible—gooddrainage and healthy soil is a must.

Adding a bit of cactus sandwill ensure good drainage.

29www.thegrowers-exchange.com | 29www.growers-exchange.com |

The best time to plant is in theearlymorning or late afternoon; youwant to avoid excessive heat and sun.

DONOT plant deeper than thesoil line of the potted plant, but

make sure that the roots arealways covered with soil.

Place the plant in the hole at thecorrect depth and backfill.

Mulch helps keep the soil moistand suppressesweeds.

Some of your plants may either begoing dormant, or coming out of

dormancy depending on the time ofyear. This is a normal part of theirlife cycle, so do not be alarmed bythe lack of green growth. The rootsare strong and healthy and the plant

WILL GROW!

Dig a hole to allow for loose soilto be backfilled into the hole.

Any container thatholds soil andprovides good drainagewill work.

The two essential elements are:–Top Quality Potting Mix

–Drainage

Fill your container up to "from the rim of the pot.

Gently remove each plant fromthe pot, and loosen the roots

of each plant.

Nestle the plants in the soilat the appropriate spacing andthenfirmly pack the remaining

soil between the plants.

Water thoroughly to saturate thesoil, and if needed, add more soil.
