That age-old adage, “When it rains, it pours!” has never seemed more true that this past summer when the monsoon rains fell upon Tucson. Certainly a most memorable natural phenomenon for me during my first year here as your Parks Director. But now with the advent of an important Parks Bond to be presented to eligible voters in Tucson this fall, the potential downpour of much-needed capital improvement funding to reinvest in over 100 beloved city parks can truly be transformative.

Tucson Parks and RecreationFROM THE DIRECTOR

Enjoy free family fun with carnival games, egg hut, prizes, and the Easter Bunny!

Without raising local property taxes, the City of Tucson’s bonding capacity as street improvement bonds are being paid off opens up the opportunity with voters’ support to realize a $225 million investment in our parks, greenways and important connections across the city like bikeways, sidewalks, and recreational trails. With renovated ramadas, new and improved playgrounds, cool new splash pads and swimming pool improvements, winding walking paths, enhanced sports fields with lighting, and new shade structures and trees, the proposed parks bond can help restore much of the recreational appeal and beauty across Tucson parklands. You can find more details about the Parks Bond on the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation website at www.tucsonas.gov/parks.

As you pour through these pages, you’ll find a delightful deluge of abundant, quality recreation programs, classes and events within this Activity Guide to take you through the fall, winter, and spring season. I hope you take advantage of some of the many great offerings in the coming months. Find your fun with Tucson Parks and Recreation!
