CareerFairisOctober16th,2018atUALittleRock!Forthepast9years,theCollegeofEngineeringandInformationTechnology(EIT)hashostedacareerfairforourstudentsasawaytoawardthemforalloftheirhardwork.Thisissuchagreatwayforstudentstonetworkandmeetpotentialemployersface-to-face.We’vehadtremendoussuccessinthepastandcontinuetokeepdoingso.Here’sthescheduleofeventsdesignedtoprepareourstudentsforyourarrivalandtoassistthemwithfindingemployment:

cringeworthy Don’ts) when using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We’ll also talk about how to
write professional emails and text messages. (Hint: beware of the “Reply All” function.)

presentation as well as pre-, during, and post-interview fair etiquette. Come with questions

ElevatorSpeechWorkshop:CareerFairEdition|October11|EIT217|12pm–1pm Come learn some tips and tricks from the Dean on how to prepare an elevator speech for the
career fair! This one hour workshop will be geared towards learning what an elevator speech
is, how to create your personalized elevator speech, and master the secrets to a successful
elevator speech. (Elevator Speech – is a short description of an idea, product, company, or
oneself that explains the concept in a way such that any listener can understand it in a short
period of time.)

The Career Fair is the main event. Students can hand out resumes to interested companies. Company representatives are provided with a booth and have the option to customize specifications with our career fair committee. Environmentalengineersdesigninfrastructure,publicworks,andprocessesthatprotecttheenvironmentandpublichealth.Throughrequiredandelectivecourses,UALittleRock’sprogramexposesstudentstoallofthemajorareasofenvironmentalengineering,includingwaterresources,airresources,andlandresources.Environmentalengineersanalyzeandcontrolhowsubstancestravelthroughair,water,andsoil,theystudythechemicalreactionsthattakeplaceduringtransport,andtheydeterminetheultimatefateofthosesubstancesinordertosolvesocietalproblemsinvolvingtheenvironmentandpublichealth.
