OUR STORY

Peter Horobin completed his saddle apprenticeship at one of the oldest saddleries in Germany. Returning to Australia, Peter and his wife Julie started Peter Horobin Saddlery in a picturesque coastal town on the Mornington Peninsula.

Developing a brand in the Australian market for over 20 years, PHS is now making and fitting saddles across 5 continents, where we have a dedicated and passionate team of representatives who will look after you and your saddle fit.

Designed in Melbourne, our saddles are made from the finestleathers available, sourced from the most sustainable factories in Europe. Since our inception in 1985, we have become Australia’s finestsaddlery. We have over 40 years experience in manufacturingcustom made and bespoke saddles for the equestrian and racing industry. Our saddles are flocked with 100% wool from sustainable farms throughout Europe and Australia. We use the highest ‘A’ grade leather sourced from some of the oldest tanneries in Europe who use eco-friendly tanning methods.

From sketching initial design concepts to finding the perfect leather, right through to the finishing touches with welting, stitching and head nails, our saddles are handmade with passion.

Using simple but effective technology the saddles can be adjusted on site while the customer waits. Each individual saddle fitter has been trained by Peter Horobin or his son Rhys, and can fit and adjust your saddle with precision and care. After service is an important aspect of the saddle buying experience so we appreciate yourfeedback during your experience.

SF ENDURANCE

The StrideFree® Endurance has been developed with the notion of providing the endurance rider with ultimate comfort for long rides, alongside maximum comfort for the horse. Wide load bearingpanels and shoulder clearance allows full range of motion. Theposition of the tree allows for the scapula to elevate and retract when the shoulder moves forward.

Peter Horobin Saddlery is committed to working towards a moresustainable future. We continue to strive in finding new ways toreduce our environmental impact within our manufacturing and office output. From packaging using fair trade cotton bags to 100% recycled cardboard, energy saving with lighting and heating in our workshop, alongside minimising wastage and how we dispose of it, using economical methods.

We focus on leather care as a preventative over cure for leather longevity and provide a service of trading in secondhand saddles, which we can then service and adjust.

By using 100% leather, which is tanned in the most sustainable and ethical manner, from renowned and award winning tanneries in Europe, we educate on the care taken when riding to increase the longevity of the leather used on our saddles. We constantly audit our supply chain to ensure that the saddles and accessories we are making are of the highest quality and we take full responsibility for the entire lifecycle of our raw materials, ensuring that we use them and manufacture in the utmost ethical way.

All our saddles are flocked with 100% wool from sustainable farmsthroughout Europe and Australia. We always endeavour to beaccountable for our manufacturing processes for a better future.
